Double-Take Designs Have The Swagger Without The Insane Price Tag

Look fabulous in fast fashion with these mirror-image accessories inspired by a few of the most sought-after trends of this season. Heavy, layered, multi-strand statement necklaces that bring all focus to the neckline are very "in" at the moment and dominated the runway at shows like Lanvin and Burberry Prorsum. Forever 21 captured the essence of the floral fringe necklace with a very inspired look-alike. Not to be outdone by the statement necklace, designers made sure the foundation of every woman's wardrobe, the shoes, also got special attention. At Balenciaga's Resort 2009 collection the shoes were high, super strappy and sexy. Be sure to hit up a Bebe store for a nearly identical pair at a fraction of the price. YSL also gave us something to go-gaga over -- caged booties. Check out Bakers' interpretation and get the runway look for a not-so-runway price! When she's not busy burying her nose in spell books, donning dress robes, and getting all "teenage-angsty" over a not-quite-budding romance with Ron Weasley, Emma Watson is quite the young fashion icon. Known for her love of Chanel eveningwear, her buddy-buddiness with Karl Lagerfeld, and her role as Burberry's fresh fall face, Emma seems to have the whole "effortlessly elegant" look down pat. And now with "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" in full media swing, she's charming big-screen audiences and red carpet rompers alike with her collection of captivating big-night dresses. From Hogwarts to Hollywood and beyond, not even the Sectumsempra curse could stop her style-savviness! Vote below on which of Hermione's many outfits you find most bewitching! Photo Credit: PR Photos

How To Sew Your Own Bib Necklace

    image
Alex Gambardella on Jul 2, 2009 7:22 AM PDT
Nicole Smith is an editor at CraftStylish, a site dedicated to original do-it-yourself projects for home, fashion, wedding, and more. Below she shares how to sew your own bib necklace... and in turn, save yourself from a thousand-dollar debt at Neiman Marcus!

While looking at the inspirational catalog from Neiman Marcus today, I came across this necklace by Ranjana Khan. The necklace retails for $1,200, and is very similar to this project I made for less than $20, which I call the "Bijoux Necklace." My original inspiration for this project was a necklace by Burberry from their Fall '08 collections. Chunky jewels have been a runway staple the past few seasons, embellishing everything from shoes and headbands to hemlines and jewelry. Get the look quickly with organza (don't worry; it's easy to sew) and faux jewels. A ribbon makes the necklace adjustable for a chocker length or longer. You can also enlarge or reduce the size of the template to any dimensions you like. You'll need: 1/4 yard of organza, 3/4 yard of 5/8-inch-wide velvet ribbon, assorted sew-on jewels, scissors, a sewing machine, a hand-sewing needle, and thread. Get the full step-by-step instructions, along with the pattern's template, on CraftStylish!

Every year, "oversized" gets its 15 minutes of fashion fame. First there was big, over-sized, over-teased hair. We have seen over-sized pants and for both men and women, as well as over-sized outerwear and over-sized jewelry. More recently, we have seen over-sized sunglasses that make women look like one of their parents may have been a fly, as well as over-sized totes and handbags that could double as a studio apartment. The next must-have, over-sized accessory is definitely the watch. Huge watches are popping up everywhere from the dainty wrists of society's finest to edgy hipsters. The styles vary from simple and streamlined to adorned and flashy and everything in between. They are a great substitute for a bracelet or piece of statement jewelry and you can have multiple styles to go with multiple outfits! This is a great look for both men and women and would make a great gift as a matching set. Watches are a "must" part of an interview outfit and now you are able to show that your are responsible, reliable and fashionable! Have it be one of many eye-catching components to an ensemble, or punch up a classic look with this extreme accessory. Check out the slideshow for some favorite over-sized watch designs and find one that you'd like to spend time with!

Emma Watson Trades Hogwarts For Burberry

All I can say is WOW after looking at the new Emma Watson ads for Burberry. Photographed by Mario Testino, the 19 year-old Emma (aka Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" flicks) looks all grown up and oh so stylish as the new face of the British fashion house. She's definitely come a long way from the bushy haired character she's plays! It comes to no surprise that she's landed a major campaign like this, but after months of speculation and many photo ops with Karl Lagerfeld, many were hoping she'd be the face of Chanel instead. Nonetheless, Emma wears the classic Burberry tartan plaid and trench coats like any seasoned fashion pro. See more photos at the UK's Daily Mail. Make A Statement With A Bib Necklace For Spring!

    image
Pauline Montupet on May 22, 2009 10:23 AM PDT
The last time bibs were this cool I was still in a high chair drinking from a sippy cup. But times have changed and this spring, the fashion world has taken on a decidedly grown-up accessory trend: the bib necklace. The statement necklace has gotten a little bit bolder and was a key piece of jewelry in this season's shows, showing up at Vera Wang, Chanel, Marni and Burberry. From itty bitty bibs to full-blown breastplates, there are tons to choose from. Pick a worldly looking beaded collar like Erickson Beamon's "Ring of Stars" choker for a well-traveled ethnic look. For vintage lovers there is the "Big Clermont" necklace by Thea Grant that resembles old jeweled broaches, and if you're on a budget try the "Spring Flora" necklace from Forever 21. Looking for something less 1901 and more like 2021? For a futuristic feel, pick large candy colored plastic beads like Malene Berger's multicolor necklace or a geometric breastplate from Missoni. Whatever you choose, just be sure to keep the neckline of your top is simple or bare...you don't want anything taking away from your signature piece for the season. Click on the slideshow to see some of my favorite picks!
