New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Brian Reyes

When designer Brian Reyes noted backstage that his Spring/Summer 2010 collection contained "all the things he loves," he wasn't exaggerating. Even though his runway seemed to boast everything but the kitchen sink -- from sheer lingerie to multicolored high-waisted shorts to metallic off-the-shoulder dresses to ink blots(?!) -- he still managed to maintain a sophisticated sense of balance. Floaty ruffled blouses were reined in with cinched belts, and bustier dresses got a dose of high-wattage color to keep things young and fun, not vampy. As for the silk rorschach test body suit? That's the result of a creative thought process that perhaps only Reyes' #1 fan Rachel Bilson would fully understand. Flip through the slideshow to see some of the show-stopping ensembles!

Even from just a cursory flip-through of Fashion Week photos, it's easy to tell which stylish starlets just can't stay away from the Bryant Park tents. After all, when every dress, purse, and sequin you've ever worn is documented by the press, it's easy to get addicted to front-row views of your next big-night red carpet ensembles. Certain celebs like Jessica Alba and Alicia Keys took breaks from their busy schedules to pop into designer favorites like Narciso Rodriguez and Giorgio Armani, while other fashion-infatuated gals like Jessica Stroup and Rachel Bilson flocked tirelessly to as many runways as they could handle, from Vivienne Tam to Brian Reyes. And whether you're a celebrity, designer, model, writer, or shopaholic, there's no pressure to look your best like there is at New York Fashion Week! Fashion Week may be over, but that doesn't mean the beautiful makeup looks should be forgotten! I love going backstage to get the scoop on the makeup looks because usually, the products used are already available in stores, so while we have to wait for the clothes to hit the rack, we can recreate the beauty looks right now! To capture the soft, feminine styles and clean lines of the Brian Reyes Fall 2009 collection, makeup artist Nicolas Degennes for Givenchy Le Makeup created a fresh look with clean, matte skin and dramatic, captivating eyes. This presentation was actually the first time Givenchy was the featured makeup line for runway show. According to Nicolas, who also created the line, "This collaboration with Brian was appealing to me because his clothes capture the sophistication, modernity, and luxurious feeling of Le Makeup." The makeup look was soft and feminine, with just the right dose of intensity and the best part is that it's pretty easy to re-create on your own!

Get Leighton Meester's Playfully Polished Look

While she radiates prim and proper Upper East Side prepster from head to toe as Blair Waldorf on the hit show Gossip Girl, off screen, Leighton Meester is a bit more adventurous and is cultivating an eclectic and diverse style that can't be as easily pinned down as that of her alter-ego. At the 15th annual Shop 'Til It Stops fashion show and tribute in New York, Leighton mixed and matched with two fabulous Brian Reyes pieces- a brown corset dress which she topped off with a black blazer, instantly rendering the sexy cocktail frock more day-time appropriate. She rounded out the mix with killer black peep-toe platforms and a studded statement-cuff for a look that was sophisticated and chic with a definite funky, youthful edge. Celeb Style Steal: Rachel Bilson's Sexy Ethereal Look

When it comes to fashion, actress Rachel Bilson is a true chameleon evidenced by the fact that no matter what trend or style she chooses, she pulls it off perfectly, always creating her style, rather than emulating someone else's. At the Teen Choice Awards, Rachel- who picked up an award for Choice Movie Actress- rocked a look that was equally elegant, ethereal, and playfully sexy. Wearing a one shoulder icy blue dress from the Brian Reyes Pre-Spring 2009 collection paired with nude Lanvin pumps (a good tip for petite girls like Rachel to create the illusion of longer legs), finishing off with some fabulous accessories including a slim Marni clutch, oversized Amrapali earrings, and a gold cocktail ring, Rachel provided yet another flawless look to inspire budding fashionistas everywhere! Style Steal: America Ferrera's Electric Blue Look

At the premiere of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, America Ferrera was a vision of youthful elegance and modern glamour- not to mention, a far cry from the frumpy assistant she plays on the hit show Ugly Betty. The stunning actress made an striking splash on the red carpet wearing a strapless electric blue Brian Reyes frock paired with matching Christian Louboutin pumps and adorned in antique jewels from Fred Leighton including 19th Century diamond fringe earrings, antique bracelets in diamonds and turquoise, and a 19th Century natural pearl and diamond heart ring. If she keeps this up, they're seriously going to have to consider changing the name of the show to Beyond Beautiful Betty! Check out my SLIDESHOW to get this electrifying look!
