Gossip Girl Returns Tonight With More OMG Style!

    image
Amber Fijolek on Sep 14, 2009 11:32 AM PDT
Gossip Girl here, and now that school's back in session, it's time for a roll call... S?, B?, Little J? They're all back -- The Upper East side has kept us waiting all summer, and now we've only a few hours before we can see our favorite privileged prep-school crowd in action on tonight's season 3 premiere! Better than the action of our much-gossiped-about New Yorkers are their wardrobes, as costume designer Eric Daman has created style after crave-worthy style that is simply impossible to ignore. This season, with a change of scenery for our older gossip folk as they enter their lives beyond prep school, we're expecting some new looks for the already defined styles of our favorite leading ladies and gents. Serena Van der Woodsen's whimsical boho bit, Blair Waldorf's attention-drawing formality, and Chuck's dapper zeal will have renditions in store to fit their more mature selves. And while the big kids head on off to bigger and better things, on the home-front, little Jenny Humphrey has matured as well; so while she's still deep in her shredded and edgy look, we're dying to see where her new title of Queen Bee will lead her style. One thing we do know: the new Queen has already denounced wearing headbands as crowns at Constance Billard. As for Blair, that's one staple item that may take more than a summer to shake. Take a peek at some Gossip Girl-influenced trends in this slideshow to gear up for tonight's episode!

Leighton Meester Wears Chris & Jaime Collection In NYC

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Jul 22, 2009 12:41 PM PDT
"Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester was spotted in NYC wearing a slouchy top and rolled shorts from Chris & Jaime Collection. It's not the most exciting outfit by any means, but it just goes to show that she's equally adorable whether in character as the impeccably dressed Blair Waldorf or off-duty in a pared-down look. The rolled slouchy shorts ($165) and "Be Square" top ($77) are available at Poppy NYC. The shorts are a cute albeit expensive alternative to the ubiquitous denim cutoffs, but you can still get the Leighton's look- yes, even if you aren't actually a successful television starlet. Just be sure to add sleek accessories (Leighton's are by Chloe and Jimmy Choo) and you'll avoid looking like you just left the gym. Click the slideshow to see our picks!

Anna Sui To Launch Gossip Girl-Inspired Target Collection ...

Photos of Anna Sui's upcoming Gossip Girl-inspired Target collection have leaked, and so far the looks get an XOXO from me! It's pretty obvious which outfits were inspired by which character, from Blair's lacy, bow-adorned frocks to Jenny's edgier ensembles. Sure, they're a bit costume-y, but anyone who's ever watched an episode of Gossip Girl (or just drooled over the outfits in between episodes) knows that the overly accessorized, often times theatrical looks are all part of the show's appeal-- plus, it wouldn't be Anna Sui collection without her signature girly, rock n' roll flair. Not crazy about Gossip Girl? The collection's eerily reminiscent of Anna Sui's past runway collections, another reason you won't want to pass this up. The collection launches in Target stores and online on September 13th- what do you think? Will you be checking it out? Let us know in comments!

Web Gem: Celeb Style On The Set!

    image

Gas prices are rising and driving a car is increasingly tapping into my fashion funds. In order to appease both my transportation and style needs I obviously look to Gossip Girl for guidance-- that would be your first move too right? People StyleWatch has caught Leighton Meester's character Blair Waldorf on two occasions ditching the town car for a beach cruiser bicycle, and looking just as chic as usual. While living in a city full of hills and traffic doesn't make biking everywhere feasible, a recent biking excursion while in France had me wishing that San Francisco was a bike friendly city, and yearning for my college campus where no doubt I will adopt this means of transportation. Check out People StyleWatch to see more of what's going on on the set of Gossip Girl and your other favorite shows that can't return soon enough.

Show Style: 10 Essential Items For Stealing That Gossip Girl Look

Did you tune into Gossip Girl last season just for an hour-long fashion fix? Did you ever miss a key plot point because you were daydreaming about Blair Waldorf's latest Balenciaga handbag? Well...so were the rest of the 2.7 million viewers. Gossip Girl is more than a show about Manhattan's elite private schools; it€™s a cultural phenomenon that has had a great impact on retail trends, making preppy staples like piped blazers and argyle fashionable again. And although the television season has ended (you can watch repeats on The CW Monday nights), we€™re sure its ritzy, collegiate style will be showing up in department stores nationwide when the Back to School season begins. Now if only there was a definitive answer to: "How old is too old to wear knee-socks and a short pleated skirt?"
