Coquette Has Her Eye On Bombako Headbands

Natalie Zee Drieu on Oct 7, 2009 5:23 AM PDT
It's no wonder why Gossip Girl brought headbands to the forefront once again, but these headbands by Bambako take them to a whole new level of sophistication. Details such as feathers, beading, and ornate ribbons make these a perfect compliment to any outfit without looking overly embellished or gaudy. For the Fall/Winter 2009 collection, designer Abigail Ricarte wanted to create pieces that were fun, strong, and ultra femme. "This season, I was really drawn to bold statement pieces by playing with different textures and heavy splashes of color in between. I wanted to appeal to a range of girls - from yuppies to hipsters," says Abigail. And given the variety of her collection, from the glitzy Night in Tunesia to the laidback feathered Oh Hey band, we can't imagine what type of girl wouldn't be able to find something she likes! Head over to Coquette for more fall fashion!

Turquoise Jewelry, Not Just For The Tacky!

    image

If the word "turquoise" automatically makes you think of the Southwest and giant slabs of the blue-ish green stone attached to over-done sterling, it's time to re-evaluate. Turquoise doesn't have to be tacky and in small doses is actually quite trendy. Earrings are a great place to display this gem as they provide enough space for just a hint of blue without overwhelming your face, outfit or anything else you may not want overshadowed. TheFind has some great options, and they don't all come with a hefty price tag. They're fun, colorful ways to dress up a simple jeans-and-t-shirt ensemble. They look stunning with black. The great thing about turquoise is that it can be casual or polished. See -- "tacky" is nowhere in sight! Check out TheFind for more fun Spring trends!

Bag Of The Week: The Marni Acrylic Detail Clutch

    image
Pamela Pekerman on Oct 22, 2008 7:24 AM PDT
Some bags scream" look at me!" - they're bold in color, rich in hardware, loaded with patent shine, or all of the above. Others blend into the background- they're neutral in shade, lack excess embellishment and don't venture into uncharted silhouettes. And then there are those in between that bring on compliments and gazes based on sheer uniqueness, a hint of something fresh, and an artistic touch. Marni's Acrylic Detail Clutch fits into the latter grouping. The shape? Nothing new- a simple frame, coin-purse-like style clutch. The soft, graphite grey color doesn't immediately catch they eye either. It's about the little acrylic and multicolor bead that accents the clutch. What is it? Upon first look, I saw a butterfly. Now, I think it's falling flower petals. The detailing isn't grand, but it will keep your girlfriends in conversation wondering, "Where did you get that clutch?" I'm certain many will not purchase this clutch. For one, it is expensive for today's market. And two, not everyone will get how or when to wear it. For those who can afford and do get this stroke of bag-a-licious genius, send pictures, and think of me as you enter your credit card number.

Hive 5: Beads From Sui, Stella McCartney and More!

    image

Beads, beads and more beads, these delicate, intricate, and ornately patterned pieces will surely become family heirlooms. Today's Hive 5 not only brings drama to your accessories collection, but gossip as well! It seems that the Anna Sui bag that I've featured was not designed by Anna Sui! For someone known for her gusto in the creativity department it seems unfathomable that she would make an exact copy of a bag someone in her camp purchased from dorotheasclosetvintage.com (check out her website, maybe you'll find something from Anna's next collection...) but really, down to each and every bead that seems to be the case! Along with this controversial purse, I've selected an exquisite sequined bib necklace from Marni (perfect for the bohemian artist type), a BeaValdes necklace which is just the look for to fit this season's statement necklace criteria, and stunning evening bags from Matthew Williamson and Stella Mccartney. Explore my picks in the SLIDESHOW!

Stylehiver Spotlight: "KimmiK" Specializes in Sweet-As-Candy ...

    image
Sydel Sakuma on Jul 24, 2008 4:23 PM PDT
Stylehiver KimmiK must have sweet tooth because her Hive is full to the brim with eye candy. This fearless Hiver isn't afraid of bright hues or fabulous color one bit, in fact, she searches out the sweetest pieces around like a kid in a candy store (or a Shopaholic in a half-off sale). To the right I see a Burberry royal purple trench coat and to the left I see an 'Atomic' Beaded Dress by Matthew Williamson. Yum! And if these things don't give you a sugar high, surely her Miu Miu platforms will. To get a taste of KimmiK's Hive go to the SLIDESHOW.
