Bedazzled Bathing Suits To Bling Out Your Next Beach Day

Sparkles, sequins, and studs -- oh my! If you're not built like Alessandra Ambrosio like I am (ha! I'm definitely kidding), finding the perfect swimsuit can be a task similar to finding a needle in a haystack... so you might as well make sure that the one suit you finally settle on is killer! Of course, confidence is the only thing you really need to get heads turning and all eyes on you as you strut your stuff on the sand, but let's face it -- sparkly embellishments adorning your scantily-clad bod definitely helps! Forget your basic black bandeau and opt for a tribal-inspired stone-studded bikini from Victoria's Secret, or even a wallet-friendly Charlotte Russe rhinestone monokini for added coverage with maximum sex appeal. We may be well into summer by now, but it's certainly not too late to add some shimmer to your swim style. Check out the slideshow for some of my favorite sparkling suits that'll be sure to amp up your next pool party or beach date!

Trendy Tie-Dyed Pieces That Don't Look Like You Made Them At ...

What is it about tie-dye that seems to just ooze summer spirit? I don't know if it's the bright colors or the fond memories of wringing out freshly-dipped t-shirts on the backyard lawn, but I was always secretly rooting for a tie-dye comeback that didn't look too homemade or too hippie. As if the almighty trendsetters read my mind (it's about time!), tie-dye has been sprouting up all over the place -- high-end and affordable retailers alike -- in every place imaginable, from shoes to shades! While stereotypically the print has always been associated with peace signs, flower children, and campy arts and crafts, this season it's keeping it casual with thong sandals and dressing it up in the form of sexy minidresses. Still not convinced? Take a look at the slideshow and see for yourself how today's tie-dye has gone from hippie to hip!

Say Hello To Retro Cut Swim Suits!

Despite what may be going on in Brazil, the trend this spring isn't squint-and-you'll-miss-it bikinis. This summer it's all about the pinup-girl-inspired swimwear: high-waisted bikinis, sweetheart necklines and hourglass silhouettes. These vintage inspired bikinis are perfect for playing some beach blanket bingo or hitting the hottest luau. Inspired by fabulous pin up girls of the 50's and surf goddesses of the 60's these bikinis have a sweetly sexy vibe, proving that sometimes less skin is more. Elizabeth O'Brien Berg, a line based out of Brooklyn, NY is a great line of vintage inspired cut swimsuits. The suits are cute, sexy, retro, ruffled, and slightly vampy. Even Victoria's Secret has hopped on the retro sexy trend with great and affordable suits. If you have a boyish figure, look for suits with a high-waisted bottoms to give you that hourglass shape. Lacking a bit on top? These retro bikinis with ruffles and bows on top are perfect to give a little oommph. Check out the SLIDESHOW to view more modern-day pinup style bikinis in stores.

Hot In The Hive: The Swarovski Crystal "Bling-Kini"

    image

While many of us are hitting up Target and the sale racks at Victoria's Secret to stock up on bargain swimwear this season, others overseas are opting to splurge on more impractical poolside pieces, such as The Anita by Pistol Panties, for example, a suit made exclusively for London-based Selfridges department store. Made with 5,000 Swarovski crystals, the appropriately-dubbed "bling-kini" doesn't officially go on sale until later this week (for about $2986 in American money), yet stores in London, Manchester, and Birmingham already have rapidly-growing wait-lists of cost-fearless crazies who can't wait to get their hands on one. I guess if you have three months worth of rent to spare, there's nothing wrong with trying to live a little -- as long as it doesn't involve swimming, because that's strictly off-limits in this morbidly-priced maillot! So if you happen to be strolling along the beach and see someone who resembles a glistening stained glass window headed for the waves, do them a favor and stop them before they dump $3000 down the drain (as if they haven't already). In my humble opinion, I say that if we can't even swim in it, they could have at least made it cute!

    Price: Ridiculous.
Who Found It: Victoria1 was the first to add the Anita Bling-Kini to the Hive.

8 Ways To Get A Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model's Beachy Style!

Having just a casual interest in sports, I've only ever picked up a copy of Sports Illustrated once a year -- for the ever-famous swimsuit issue. That's actually a statistic I share with many of my sports-loving guy friends, however while they pick up the sexy edition to ogle at and cut out pin-ups of pretty girls, I need to flip the pages to see this season's newest beach attire. Of course, in my younger days, I dreamt of once becoming one of those girls wearing an itty-bitty swimsuit. (Well, who wouldn't want to wear hot swim suits on the set of a photoshoot in an exotic paradise?). These girls are the icons of summer, with their smooth sun-kissed skin and tide-tousled locks. Dream we may about being Brooklyn Decker or Bar Rafaeli, but we mere mortals can achieve Sport's Illustrated sexiness with the application of a few of these Lucia Dvorska and the like-inspired tricks.
