    What's Next For Alexander Wang?

    image
Pauline Montupet on Oct 20, 2009 4:24 PM PDT
You all know Alexander Wang by now, the fashion wunderkind who started his namesake line by his second year of design school in 2007. In 2008 he conquered the shoe and handbag market- how's an 800 person waiting list for proof? In 2009, he added t-shirts with his coveted knitwear line T by Alexander Wang. What's next-- world domination? Maybe not quite, but as far as we're concerned he's getting pretty close. With the success of his T line, he's adding more styles that go beyond the perfectly fitted slouchy tee and tank. He is debuting some men's styles too-- think well-worn t-shirts, casual tanks and button-downs, and some cool leather shorts. As if that isn't enough to have our tails wagging, Spring 2010 also brings us a new line of shades in collaboration with Linda Farrow, which Wang unveiled during his Sept fashion week show. Check out the slideshow to see some of the sunglasses and men's looks!

The American Apparel Flea Market Is Coming To A City Near You!

American Apparel isn't exactly expensive, but sometimes, shelling out upwards of $20 for a plain t-shirt is too much to handle- even if we know we'll wear it to shreds. But $2 t-shirts? That's an entirely different story! The American Apparel Flea Market is on the road now, and if you're lucky, it's headed to a city near you. Prices start at just $2! That's cheap enough to stock up on an entire rainbow of t-shirts, or perhaps prepare for multiple future DIY projects. The market will be at Arizona State University in Tempe today, San Francisco State University on Tuesday the 15th, and three more cities, spanning through the first week in October. The flea market is just for one day in each city, so we'd recommend getting there early unless you feel like chasing them down on their next stop! See the schedule and details on the left, and tell us... will you be stopping by?

Don't You Dare Call These Tees Basic!

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Sep 1, 2009 2:19 PM PDT
We love our basics, we really do... but we'd be lying if we said they were the most exciting things in our closets. Sure, that American Apparel v-neck goes with 18 other outfits (and that's just the grey one) but honestly, it's kind of boring on its own, right? Why not swap out those boring basics with tees that have just a little something extra? Tiny embellishments transform plain tees from reliable standbys to fashionable favorites in their own right, and they're just as versatile as ever. Take this jersey tank from Casual Couture by Green Envelope- from the front, it's a simple, well-cut top, but the back features an exposed zipper that will add a little edge to any outfit. The pearl tee from Sauce is a girly spin on everyone's favorite slouchy pocket tee, and J. Crew's jeweled tissue tee practically has a statement necklace built in and would look perfect paired with everything from scruffy boyfriend jeans to a polished skirt and blazer. See the slideshow for your new favorite basics!

Coming Monday... James Perse At 40% Off, Just For You!

If I had my way, I would have an entire closet of James Perse. Yes, the tees, tanks, and dresses could be classified as basics, but compare them to your "fresh from the track meet" American Apparel basics and they're truly in a category of their own. They're casual with vintage details and relaxed fits, yet luxurious with high quality fabrics and subtle trims. Oh, and they're supremely comfortable, too!

Unfortunately, they're a bit of a splurge. And while I can say that the tees and dresses are without a doubt the best I've tried, I'm not exactly scooping them up by the dozen. But don't lose hope just yet...

We've teamed up with James Perse to offer you a special deal on one James Perse item. No, we can't tell you what it is yet- you'll have to wait til Monday for that- but we can tell you it's an absolute staple for any wardrobe, specially priced for Hivers at 40% off!

Be sure to check back on Monday where we'll unveil this special deal! It won't last long!
