Celebs Are Loving Super Short Long Sleeved Mini Dresses!

    image

Every since Christophe Decarnin sent his fembots down his spring and fall runway shows in minis with sky high hemlines and long sleeves it seems like celebs can't get enough. Blake Lively has been spotted in a seriously shoulder padded black sequined number and Sienna Miller rocked a majorly distressed version in gold at the party for her Broadway show "After Miss Julie." But its not just Balmain that's playing the long sleeve mini game. Chloe Sevigny's been out and about in new designer Kimberly Ovitz's nude bandaged mini and Alexa Chung looked perfectly minimalist in red Calvin Klein. One thing is for sure, all of these dresses have dangerously high hemlines, but the more conservative, covered-up look on top keeps it balanced. I mean mom always said to cover up, right? Check out the slideshow to see our top 5 favorites.

Celebs Strut Their Stuff In Catwalk Creations

There used to be a clearer distinction between models and actresses. You could do both, but usually one skill set was stronger than the other. These days, though, many of our favorite celebs are gracing the covers of magazines and pages of photo-shoots in positions that used to be mainly reserved for the models. Celebrity faces are seen all over the place now in venues and mediums outside of movies and movie promotions. Being seen and celebrated for their art (music and movies) was one thing, but now people are turning to celebs for style sense and fashion tips. Logically, celebrities are answering by stepping out in trendy ensembles taken straight from the runway and parading themselves around for their adoring public. Diva superstar, Beyonce rocks this sparkly Balmain dress and it looks a lot better on her than it does on the model! Check out the slideshow for more celebs strutting their stuff in runway creations! Which ones looked better on the celeb than the model? You be the judge!

Pump Up The Stam With V Magazine's Eighties-Inspired Editorial

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Aug 31, 2009 12:24 PM PDT
Jessica Stam stars in an awesomely eighties-inspired spread in this month's V Magazine, on newsstands tomorrow. The editorial showcases Stam working out in some of fall's hottest looks, with an equally hot trainer, because everyone knows you should never stretch in a Balmain jumpsuit alone. You could pull a thread, or possibly a muscle. Other exercise ensembles include a Marc Jacobs sweater and boots, Adidas by Stella McCartney leggings layered with Chanel leg warmers, and a pair of seriously fierce Louis Vuitton over-the-knee boots that will scare off anyone who may be inclined to steal your spot on the elliptical machine. We're not sure whether we're more motivated to shop or sweat after a peek at the photoshoot, but we'll be getting in our cardio somehow, that's for sure. See the slideshow for a preview of the spread, and be sure to pick up this month's issue of V magazine tomorrow!

March On With Our Top 5 Favorite Marching Band Jackets!

    image

What do Jimi Hendrix, Christophe Decarnin of Balmain and Sienna Miller all have in common? They all love marching band style jackets! Beyonce and Rihanna have been spotted in the amazing (and very pricey) Balmain version and Sienna looked retro-cool in her Temperley London version. Finding an authentic vintage band jacket is hard to do, and sometimes the fit is less than flattering. Good thing designers have been turning out more modern and contemporary versions! Go subtle with some slight button or double-breasted detail, or go all out with some major gold trim and adornments. If you want to be truly authentic, check out Nasty Gal for a few great vintage styles. Check out the slideshow for our 5 favorite jackets that will keep you marching all fall long! Vintage Fashionistas Keep It Together With Separates

    image

According to my completely unscientific poll, most fashionistas break out the vintage wear for evening. And that makes sense since anyone who follows celebrity fashion usually only gets to see their favorite stars wearing vintage on a red carpet. Who can forget Julia Roberts' stunning vintage Valentino the night she won her Oscar or Penelope Cruz accepting the award for Best Supporting Actress in a 1950s vintage Balmain masterpiece? Yes, vintage evening wear has tended to survive better through the decades than other pieces because formal affairs happen infrequently. But that doesn't mean that there aren't some plain ol' everyday vintage separates to be found. Check out this eclectic collection of tops and bottoms for vintage fashionistas. Just click the slideshow to see the selection.
