CollegeCandy's 8 Stylish Steals Under $20 At Express!

So, Express isn't cheap. That is pretty obvious when you walk in and the hot shirt your eyeing for your birthday party is marked at $49. But every few months, they have a major sale. And I mean major. The kind that makes you giddy and happy and willing to sift through giant over-stuffed racks because the deals are just that good. You see, Express marks their stuff down to really low prices and then gives you an additional 20% off of that! That is some serious saving on a lot of really cute stuff. It's a frugal fashionista's dream. And that dream is coming true right now. I sifted through the (digital) racks for you and pulled 8 of my favorite pieces. They're all under $20, so you can stock your closet without that annoying guilt getting in the way. I especially love these metallic ballet flats and this pleated square-back tank! This Season's Hottest Shoes Mix Leather And Lace

As if you need any new additions to your "Shoes I Must Have NOW" list, the latest invasion of sexy footwear is more flirty than ever. Lace details, cut-outs, and overlays are popping up everywhere, in both high-end and affordable brands, from demure J. Crew ballet flats to seriously fierce peep-toe booties by Stuart Weitzman. While lace and leather may more commonly conjure up visions of risque lingerie, and let's face it -- those see-through excuses for lace pants are better suited as a doily than on an actual person (unless you're Lady GaGa), lace-embellished shoes are hot because they bring a certain sexiness without making you feel exposed. After all, a little peep-toe peepshow never hurt anyone! Check out the slideshow for some of the my favorite lacy shoes!

Rollasole: Vending Machine Flats To Save Stiletto-Wearing Feet

    image
Alex Gambardella on Jul 1, 2009 5:19 AM PDT
On NBC Nightly News last week, I caught a story about 27-year-old UK entrepreneur Matt Horan who started a company based off an ingenious idea. Rollasole is an emergency ballet flat sold in vending machine at UK clubs. For about 5 pounds (around 8 bucks), you can relieve your dancing or partying feet with these comfy and cute ballet flats that roll open and come complete with a little carry pouch (for you to tote around and use later!). Within 6 months of starting his business, Horan has sold thousands of Rollasoles and has expanded to the wedding/special occasions market. The next expansion? Over the pond, of course. Rollasole is coming soon to the U.S. to bring relief to our stiletto-wearing partying feet. Read more on Rollasole at the London Evening Standard and Perez Hilton, and even follow them on Twitter -- @Rollasole. Check out more fun fashion finds at Coquette!

Get Your Stripe On, Go Nautical!

The nautical look isn't exactly new, but while trends are all well and good, there's a reason some things are always in style. Fresh and smart, the navy-and-white-stripe combo exudes effortless chic. A summer staple, here are some picks to add to your wardrobe.

    1. A teeny-weeny, striped bikini is an easy way to get your toe into the water as far as all things stripey are concerned. Make sure your lines aren't too thick, and you'll be good to go.
    2. We love Gap's bow-toed skimmers. They give you a hint of sailor and look adorable with dresses, shorts, and jeans alike.
    3. Everyone needs sweet sundresses for summer, and we suggest one that comes in three different colors, a flattering shape, and sea-ready appeal. Try it with the Gap flats, and you'll be the prettiest sailor around.

From The Barre To The Street: Ballet-Inspired Style

    image

One of my first kiddie memories is being plunked down in a sea of fidgety, tutu-clad three-year-olds, also known as toddler ballet class. I promptly wailed and broke for the studio doors (but not before demanding a gold star sticker... I didn't get dressed up for nothing). Twenty years later I can count the number of ballet classes I've taken on a single hand, but I must say there's something so inherently chic and graceful in wearing tights and ballerina flats. What's more, the typical color palette associated with ballet is to die for- dusty pinks, heather greys, nude tones, and basic blacks look their best on drapey chiffon, mesh, and lace fabrics. Try pairing a wispy pink dress with a leather jacket or killer heels to toughen up the look a bit, or try a pair of embellished flats- a studded pair should do the trick. A wrap sweater is the simplest way to add ballet-inspired style to your look and pairs wonderfully with more structured bottoms, and you definitely don't need to know your plies from your pirouettes in order to fall in love with this frilly cross-back dress by Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti.
