Introducing: Olivia Harris by Gryson Handbags

Who wouldn't love having a hand crafted, high-end Italian leather bag with awesome hardware and practical but cool silhouettes? I know I would! Gryson has been making those exact bags for a few years now and the only problem is that pesky $900+ price tag. Good thing she now has a sister line with more reasonable prices! The line Olivia Harris (named after her daughter) offers some of the same cool designs and buttery Italian leather for hundreds less. You can get her usual super-convenient large satchels and cool clutches, but my favorite has to be the small ball bag. It combines quirkiness (its small size) and practicality (its long strap). All the bags are priced between $225 to $575 and available at saksfifthavenue.com and piperlime.com. Check out the slideshow to see the styles!

CollegeCandy Wish List: Roxy Dandy Lion Bag

Cute bathing suit? Check. Sunscreen? Check. Awesomely colorful beach bag? Hmm... maybe not yet. Well, Roxy is here to save the day with its cleverly named bag, Dandy Lion. The bag is made of durable cotton canvas, and its wide platform bottom makes storing your large beach towels a breeze. It has a back wall zip pocket and a slip pocket for your small items (so your cell phone and iPod don't get lost in the shuffle) and a magnetic snap closure to keep everything secure. The bag is lightweight and big enough to carry your sunglasses, wallet, change of clothing, and all your other beach essentials (like, I don't know, snacks?). Personally, I'm all about the animal print bag in black. It's bright, striking, and screams "have fun with fashion " It also screams "don't worry about spilling sunscreen/margaritas all over me, because I'm totally affordable and you can throw me right into the washing machine." More great beach days, here I come! Check out the CollegeCandy blog for more of the season's must-have shopping picks!

Customize Your Own Gentlemen's League Bags!

There is rarely an "it" bag that gets my interest up. I usually prefer tried and true classics or something a little off kilter and unique. Maybe that's why I find the bags by the gentlemen's league so intriguing; they are the polar opposite of an "it" bag. The two gentlemen's league masterminds, Adam Razak and Seth Stevens, personally create each bag. The designers hold private one-on-one consultations where you can co-create a piece of original art in which you can carry your daily essentials! Starting with a utilitarian Mason bag, the design is then realized with indelible ink on the canvas. You choose the leather color and the size and then let them pick your brain. Once they have an idea of who you are (or what animal you are) and what you want, the designing begins. Then voila! Within a few weeks you have your own piece of art! The line has been a bespoke company, focused on custom orders, but now limited editions are available at New York boutique Debut. At over $2,000 a pop, I better start my gentlemen's league fund now! Check out the slideshow to see some previous designs and get your own at gentlemensleague.com!

BagTrends Dishes On Elliott Lucca, Free Handbags And What's ...

    image

This bag has been bothering me for months! Every season, Elliott Lucca and The Sak (both owned by the same company, The Sak) have a media preview in their Manhattan showroom. Back in May, I previewed the Fall/Holiday 2008 collections and fell in love with Elliott Lucca 'Catina' Drawstring Bucket Bag in lilac. I'm not a drawstring kind of bagista, but I couldn't help being drawn to the sophistication of this bag. The flat base gives it a nice, semi-structured build. The studded leather diamonds and pieced-together leather design add an art-deco feel. This drawstring exudes a matured, version of the free-spirited, downtown hipster. She's older, has a professional life and wants to marry her casual spirit with her new position in life.
So here was my dilemma. At the end of each appointment, I'm allowed to pick any bag I want €“ amazing, I know. I wanted so badly to pick this bag, but I couldn't help but go for the familiar. I ended up taking a brown satchel from this very collection €“ same pieced together leather and diamond studs. Fast forward to August when this collection hit the stores. Darn it! I really wish I took this bag. I will now purchase it because I'm so obsessed. You will be, too. Not only is the design, as I mentioned so phenomenal, but I have good reason to believe that the drawstring will become a key silhouette in seasons to come!

Bag Of the Week: Charm And Luck Los Angeles, AKA Calla Bags!

Gas prices are soaring towards $5 a gallon. You're being asked to do more at work for less money. You still need to treat yourself. So, I say, don't say "no" to shopping! Say "yes" to bargain finds and affordable luxury - translation affordable treats that you actually want, not something that you think is just a good deal. Over the past few months, I've become a fan of HSN. They're bringing in many top designers, styles and stores. Think Carlos Falchi, Sobella, The Sak, SCOOP and many more. If you tune in June 27th €“ that's this Friday €“ I'll be appearing on HSN to discuss fall 2008 trends and CALLA Handbags. Click READ MORE to hear about the line's celebrity fans, and find out when you can get your hands on one for under $60!
