Haute Deal: Badgley Mischka-Style Sequin Pumps For Under $25!

    image

It's no news that the trend this season is to drench just about anything in sequins: blazers, cardigans, tanks, etc. And as a girl who is instantly drawn to anything with a little sparkle (like a kitten to catnip), I'm all about the emergence of bedazzled pumps, just in time for holiday cocktail parties and New Years' Eve -- the ultimate excuse to bling yourself out like a human disco ball. However, fancified heels usually come with an super-showy price tag to match, like these lust-worthy Badgley Mischka Hart Pumps ($190) that would most likely have me dropping the shoe back on the rack like a hot coal. Lucky for us bargain hunters, however, good ol' Forever 21 has a nearly identical pair (can you tell which is which?!) for a mere $22.80! Considering a sturdy pair of sequin pumps probably aren't what you'd consider an everyday wardrobe staple, I think it would be safe to opt for the style steal in this case. But if you've got the extra $167.20 and really feel the urge to spend it for the sake of the designer name (okay, and the extra sequins on the heel), it's up to you!

Runway Wrap-Up: Stylehive's Top 10 Looks From New York ...

Despite the mayhem that Fashion Week always brings upon us over here at the Hive, even from all the way across the country, we have to say we are a little sad to see it go. I mean, now what are we supposed to do? Sit around drooling until next spring when all of these gorgeous summery pieces finally hit the stores? In the meantime, we can take comfort in the fact that based on the designers' Spring/Summer collections, the forecast for next year is undoubtedly hot, hot, hot! Looking back on all of the runway parades we've covered in the past couple weeks, we can't help but notice the abundance of fun party frocks -- from Christian Siriano's tiered ruffles to Zac Posen's neon sheaths -- and the welcome resurgence of bright, cheerful hues (after all, what's more springy than color?) that seem to insist that high-impact shades are clearly going to be the new black! As for the late-night dance-floor hoppers, who can forget Whitney Port's designer debut with all of those slinky metallic numbers? And while the celebrity attendance record may have been abysmal (aside from the usual Anna Wintour and Rachel Zoe sightings), I'm sure the starlets will still be rocking these runway looks on the red carpet come spring! Take a look at the slideshow to reminisce with us over the Fashion Week highlights!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Badgley Mischka

Badgley Mischka is well known for their classic lines, luxurious fabrics and to-die-for detailing that makes the wearer feel like a statuesque goddess. Their Spring/ Summer 2010 runway collection at New York Fashion Week lived up to this high reputation. Simple, clean lines served as a feminine and flattering basic backdrop for silky rich materials and a luxuriously chic color palette of black, white and grey, punched up with deep reds and saturated hot pinks. Tiered ruffled skirts, meticulous pleating and contrasting colors gave sophisticated classics a modern twist, while floor length bias-cuts and sensual draping oozed elegant sexuality. Silhouettes were subtly Asian-inspired and metallic golds and silvers were used to add a little edge. Check out the slideshow to get a glimpse of this gorgeous collection for yourself!

This month, a little floral accent is just the thing to spruce up your wardrobe during this economic downpour of gloom and doom. Whether you're wearing a casual day dress or a more dramatic evening gown, make sure to keep the accessories to a minimum when sporting a floral print. Marc Jacobs, Badgley Mischka, DVF, and Missoni are just a few designers who redefined flower power and incorporated beautiful floral prints into their spring '09 ready-to-wear collections. The questions is: are you ready to rock these ultra feminine prints and sexy summer hues? Before you decide, check out a few of our favorite floral frocks and you be the judge on whether this trend is here to stay!

New York Fashion Week Fills The Shows' Front Rows With Plenty ...

    image
Alex Gambardella on Feb 27, 2009 9:23 AM PST
Among the fashion elite who are actually granted access to the highly-exclusive Bryant Park tents are some of Hollywood's most noted celebrities -- after all, what kind of star would you be if you weren't dressed by the best of the best in designer royalty? Some famous fashionistas like Kellie Pickler and Jessica Stroup couldn't stay away from the glamour of the runway and were spotted warming up the front row seats of several designers' shows, including Badgley Mischka, Pamella Roland, and Lela Rose; meanwhile, other more low-key VIPs saved their appearances for just their favorite style mavens, like Mickey Rourke for Domenico Vacca. While New York Fashion Week is ultimately about the clothing, many stylish starlets' presences in the front row are inevitably photographed even more frequently than the designer threads themselves (oh, the price of fame), but most celeb attendees made sure they shared the spotlight and showed their support by arriving in their favorite pieces from the headlining label, like Brittany Snow in her gorgeous beaded Diane von Furstenberg dress. I know being famous must be exhausting, but I really can't think of anything I wouldn't give to switch places with one of those front-row ticket holders just for a day (preferably Herve Leger day, please), even if I had to be Paris Hilton. Check out the slideshow for more pictures of stylish superstars, both in the audience and backstage at some of New York Fashion Week's hottest shows!

New York Fashion Week Runway: Badgley Mischka's Pared-Down ...

    image
Alex Gambardella on Feb 24, 2009 9:24 AM PST
For dress design duo Mark Badgley and James Mischka, simplicity just doesn't cut it when it comes to eveningwear. Known for their elaborate beading and dramatic trains, Badgley Mischka surprised audiences by opening the show for their Fall 2009 Collection with a few comparatively understated yet graceful ensembles - silky black skirts and draped dresses - with many of their typical telltale touches absent. While these preliminary pieces seemed extremely well-done in their construction and completely wearable in their practicality, the designers' faithful fans couldn't help but wonder what had happened to all the glitz and glamour they had all come to love and expect from such a show. However, drama lovers and sparkle seekers in the audience soon swallowed their initial worry and near-disappointment when the runway's looks took a turn for the extravagant, offering a shimmering parade of fancier formalwear that seemed much more faithfully characteristic of Badgley Mischka, including a floor-length metallic gold gown with a plunging neckline and crystal-encrusted tulle-fluffed dresses. While the evening's looks seemed slightly more subtle than what past collections have boasted, the curve-clinging shimmering gowns and satin-draped ruffles shined on and stayed true to the elegance that the designers are known for, if not in a more wearable, practical fashion.

Colors: lots of black, shiny gold and silver, metallic blue, merlot
Silhouettes: draped necklines, belted waists, layered tulle and ruffles
Celeb Sightings: Aisha Tyler, Kat DeLuna, Kim and Khloe Kardashian
