Betsey Johnson Given the National Arts Club's Highest XOX

What do you give a woman who has been a style icon for almost 50 years, can call Andy Warhol, Edie Sedgwick, and the Velvet Underground her intimate friends, and has spawned a fashion empire that remains beloved by women of almost every generation today? If you're the National Arts Club in New York City, you just add to the list of designer Betsey Johnson's superlatives by bestowing on her your highest award, the Medal of Honor for Lifetime Achievement. And so it was that NYC's cultural and fashion glitterati gathered on Tuesday, October 3 to fete one of fashion's timeless dynamos. People from all walks of life filled the room: young/old, white/black, bookish/fashion die-hards. Yet everyone wearing a Betsey frock--or tights, or perfume, or shoes, which people were not shy about disclosing-- possessed the spirit and energy that infuses all of Betsey's creations: fearless, vivacious, and just plain fun. The designer herself bounded around the room greeting old and new friends, and there was more than one request for her to complete one of her signature cartwheels (she declined). With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Johnson a breast cancer survivor, special attention was also paid to her substantial contributions in the fight against the disease. Surrounded by family, colleagues, and tons of admirers, Betsey was clearly floored and over the moon. "It doesn't get better than this," she said. For us, too, Betsey--thank you and xox! Check out the slideshow for flicks from Betsey's award night.

Which Reality Beauty Looked The Best At The 2009 Fox Reality ...

You're amongst friends here so go ahead and admit that it's a not-so-secret guilty pleasure that we'll change our real lives around to fit the schedules of these "real-life" shows. They claim to be reality television, giving us a glimpse into a moment of the lives of some of our favorite (or forgettable) celebrities. What exactly are they so famous for again? And why are we paying them more than the President to sit around and live out their lives as usual? From Paris Hilton living on a farm, to the documentation of Adrianne Curry's quickie and sudden marriage to a Brady to Kim Kardashian showing us how much she doesn't need to work, we just can't get enough of these pseudo-celebrity lives! But watching their lives that are so much more glamorous than our own is not enough, now we want to give them awards for it. So our favorite reality celebrities to love (and love to hate) gathered for the 2009 Fox Reality Channel 'Really' Awards and, unlike their oft over-the-top personalities and styles on screen, they showed up in surprisingly sophisticated looks. Who do you think looked the best at the 2009 Fox Reality Channel 'Really' Awards? Is it Kim Kardashian with looking stunning in a simple grey sheath dress and layered locks? Or is Adrianne Curry's knee-length, sexy one-shoulder LBD and smoky eye that keeps your attention? Even Paris looked polished and lady-like in a one-shoulder, glittering mini and retro-inspired hair. Vote for your favorite in the poll below!

Miley, Britney, & The "Twilight" Gang Sink Their Teeth Into ...

Forget "Jon & Kate Plus 8," "Dating in the Dark" or any of the other "quality" television programming you have scheduled on your TiVo for tonight -- the 2009 Teen Choice Awards on Fox is where it's at. If you're still a teen at heart (or are literally still a teen) and are dying to see the "Twilight" gang take home another dozen awards for their angst-ridden bloodsucking antics or witness Megan Fox nab a couple decorative surfboards basically just for looking hot, the event is a must-see. Despite the actual award-winnings and acceptance speeches, the Teen Choice Awards (which took place last night but air this evening at 8) are still worth a gander if you're looking for a break from your mindless channel-surfing, since the red carpet boasted an impressive parade of celebrities -- those in their teen years and beyond. Aside from the fact that so many stars were actually in attendance, what was even more impressive was just how skimpy some of the red carpet ensembles were (ahem Miley Cyrus). Check out the slideshow for some of the red carpet highlights before the event even airs!

Tweens And "Twilight" Take Over The MTV Movie Awards

Imagine an awards show during which the biggest honorees of the night bear the names Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, and Ashley Tisdale, and the film "Twilight" completely annihilates all hopes for even one "Slumdog Millionaire" trophy. No, I'm not talking about some alternate preteen-ruled universe or your worst nightmare (well, on second thought, maybe I am) -- I'm referring to the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, where the musical high school kids and the undead heartthrobs swept about 90% of the winnings and left no crazy fan-girls unsatisfied. Before Andy Samberg kicked off the event with an epically hilarious opening clip and before the teeny-boppers got to gushing accepting speeches for their popcorn trophies (and dropping them -- *cough* Kristen Stewart *cough*), their fellow young Hollywood crowd tore up the red carpet in sexy (and some not-so-sexy) party dresses, strappy boots, leather jackets and... leopard-print leotards? From Megan Fox (what was up with her hair?) to Lil Mama (yikes), the ensembles weren't all home-runs, but they certainly weren't boring! Check the slideshow for some hit and miss highlights straight from the one of the most "lively" red carpets the event has seen! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Who Demonstrated The Most Dreadful D-List Style At Bravo's ...

Bravo's 2nd Annual A-List Awards, hosted by Kathy Griffin and airing next Wednesday, might want to consider a name change. While its nominees boast undoubtedly elite names like Justin Timberlake (A-List Male Style), Britney Spears (A-List Artist Of The Year), and Zac Posen (A-List Designer), and other front-runners across the whole artistic spectrum, Paris Hilton was probably the closest thing to "A-List" the event's makeshift red carpet actually saw the whole night (yikes). While I couldn't help but be delighted by the sight of some of my favorite flamboyant Bravo stars, such as Top Chef's Fabio Viviani and the Millionaire Matchmaker herself, Patti Stanger, I actually couldn't help but feel bad for the paparazzi and their lack of interesting subject matter! If it made their jobs anymore exciting, however, some of the event's pseudo-celebrities and celebutantes looked laughably ridiculous in some ill-fitting garments and "what were they thinking?" ensemble choices. Aubrey O'Day surprisingly left her usual skin-tight hoochie dresses at home and opted for a dress that looked ridiculously too big for her in all the wrong places, and the expectedly stylish Rachel Zoe looked like some kind of creepy couture ghost floating down the carpet with her huge shapeless dress billowing in the wind. Vote below on which attention-seeking red carpet strutter looked the silliest! Photo Credit: PR Photos

Which Country Cutie Had The Winning Look At The Academy Of ...

Okay, I have to admit -- I used to hate country music. From the slow twangy accents to the depressingly lame lyrics about dead dogs and barbecue stains and broken hearts, I just could never get into it... until recently! With the invasion of young powerhouse vocalists like Lady Antebellum and Carrie Underwood ("Last Name" -- finally a country song I can relate to! Just kidding...) and down-to-earth lyrics from the likes of Taylor Swift and Sugarland, today's country seems to have adopted a hipper vibe, a more rock-ish sound, and an overall edgier quality that gives the genre a more modern infectious energy and mass worldwide appeal! And to celebrate such musical innovation, the Academy of Country Music Awards honored music mavens young and old in Las Vegas this past Sunday, and if the genre's leading ladies weren't already enviable enough in their awards-sweeping talent and golden-haired good looks, their glamorous red carpet gowns almost stole the show out of their own hands! Carrie Underwood, the night's biggest winner, toned down her usual sparkle with a fairytale-esque pastel ensemble, while Taylor Swift donned a mature one-shoulder red gown by Angel Sanchez that matched both the carpet and the backdrop, yet had her standing out just the same! Vote below on which of country's biggest stars made the best red carpet appearance! Photo Credit: PR Photos
