How Do You Prefer Brad: White-Hot Or Dark & Handsome?

    image
Alex Gambardella on Aug 15, 2009 9:23 AM PDT
This past week has been a big one for Brad Pitt (then again, when isn't it a good week to be Brad Pitt?) with the recent Hollywood premiere of his latest film, Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. Decked out in head-to-toe black, save for a pair of gold-rimmed aviators and some goatee scruff, he looked sharp as always and accessorized flawlessly with leather-clad Angelina Jolie on his arm for nearly the entire night. Despite all the excitement, he wasn't too busy to lend support to pals Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams at the NYC premiere of The Time Traveler's Wife just two days later -- only this time dressed in head-to-toe white... with a similar pair of aviators and the same scruffy facial hair. Uh, Brad? What's with the monochromatic menswear? While we understand the desire to match and coordinate, that doesn't mean you need to wear all the same color... especially when these suit shades can hardly even be considered "colors!" I guess there's no use complaining -- the man still looks good, no matter how much variation he seems to lack. Personally, I enjoy him most in his wide-open bathrobe in Fight Club, but since that's not an option, vote below on which one-color ensemble you like best: Brad in white or Brad in black? Video Style Steal: Pink Goes Moto-Girlie In "Funhouse"

    image

While Pink herself is right in the middle of her worldwide tour for her fifth studio album, Funhouse, her singles and in-your-face videos haven't taken a break from their chart-topping around the rest of the globe. Her latest vid for the album's title track is characteristically "Pink" in its rebellious tomboy vibes (after all, I don't know many girlie-girls who would dare frolic through a burning junkyard, much less while dressed head-to-toe in white), yet her wardrobe is surprisingly flirty at the same time. Then again, who else would you expect to find the perfect balance between feminine lace and badass biker chick? I may never understand her love-hate relationship with husband Corey Hart, and I'll be less likely to ever have the guts to be as bold as she is, but I can at least take a page or two from her book of style! With white distressed jeans and black belted boots, you can cop her outfit pretty easily -- I just don't recommend committing arson while you're wearing it. Wear An Outfit Inspired by Laduree French Macarons!

    image

In honor of Bastille Day which takes place on July 14th, we take inspiration from one of our favorite Parisian destinations, Laduree, the patisserie made famous by its delectable macarons. The luscious, crisp little cakes are filled with smooth creamy centers with flavors like jasmine, mango, bergamot, caramel with salted butter, red fruits, and orange blossom, just to name a few. The colors of these little treats are worthy of a trend story touting summer's pastel infused fashions, many of which are marked down to make room for fall arrivals. So indulge in a sweet treat whether it be a macaron or pastel Elizabeth and James blouse, which you can pair with white jeans. Or how about these pretty Maloles flats? They'll look charming with a fluttery silk summer dress. Even everyday basics like skinny jeans or classic aviators will look perfectly lovely for a quick jaunt to the patisserie for a box of what else? Pastel colored macarons, of course! Bright-Rimmed Sunglasses Put A Summery Spin On Shades

You may think you've got it covered in the sunglasses arena with your trusty rimless aviators and black wayfarers that you switch off depending on your mood and outfit. However, while that 90's comeback fad of blinding neon clothing slowly fades out this summer, bold colors are finding a new outlet -- your shades! This season's sunglasses are all about bright frames and rims, and with all the brands jumping on this technicolor trend (high-end and super-affordable alike!), you're bound to find yourself getting bored with your tortoise shell shields fast. Go for designer pair in your favorite or most wearable color, or collect a whole rainbow's worth of shades to go with any outfit! They're not only a great way to draw attention and exude personality even while hiding behind your glasses, but they're also a surefire way to get into the poolside mood, pronto! Check out the slideshow to see a variety of some vivid frames!

    Retro Sunnies With Throwback Appeal

    image

It seems as though the deeper we get into the 21st century, the more we sample trends from past decades-- and it is ever apparent with sunglasses (or as our Aussie folks say, "sunnies"). These days, people look like they are extras in a John Hughes films with their wayfarers or paying homage to Maverick and Goose in "Top Gun" with their aviators. There is nothing wrong with wearing retro specs-- especially when today's top designers are modernizing them to make them look chic and sleek. Tom Ford's collection of wayfarers leans towards the modern side of cool while French Connection replicates the style with blatant throwback appeal. And although aviators are considered retro, a nice pair can go a long way in a man's wardrobe (the Dior aviators are a quite snazzy). If you have problems choosing what color frames to choose, the tortoise hue is the way to go. The black and brown goes with practically any outfit. That said, wrap some of these retro shades around your head.
