Lily Allen Shows Off Chanel's Coco Cocoon Collection

    image

For Fall/Winter 2009 Chanel is introducing the new Coco Cocoon Collection, a line of casual handbags and accessories made out of washed lambskin or quilted nylon. The puffy reversible bags reveal the signature quilted Chanel pattern when turned inside out. Combining style with practicality, "Coco Cocoon" handbags smoothly transition from everyday city life to relaxing weekend getaways. The line includes a range of handbags, travel bags and small leathergoods. Lily Allen, portrayed as Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, is the face of the collection, and I have to say, the ads almost tempt me to splurge on the sleeping bag lookalikes! Don't forget to check out ShopDiary for other news on the season's new releases!

Aside from its abundance of flip-flops, short shorts, printed dresses and miniskirts, summer is also the season for some of the most anticipated movies of the year! Nothing beats a hot sweltering day like an impromptu movie date with the icy theater air conditioning on full blast! Not really a movie buff yourself? Let the stars be your guide (both Hollywood and celestial alike!) and get into gear for blockbuster season with a dose of Old Hollywood glamour and movie theater flair. Cancer girls can host their own movie marathons with an old-fashioned popcorn maker and, with the help of a high-quality curling iron by T3, Taurus ladies can recreate the pinup-style sausage curls of their favorite silver-screen sirens! Recession Chic: Stylish And Classic Trench Coats At Every Price

Anyone who knows me personally knows that I love my basics. From simple and well-cut t-shirts to ballet flats in every color, I own them all. In today's economy, this is actually one of the best times to buy high quality basics because retailers are more likely to sell clothes people would actually buy and wear. Which leads me to a almost year round staple-- the trench coat. From modern day celebs like Katie Holmes and Hayden Panettiere to icons such as Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn (remember her trench at the end of Breakfast at Tiffany's?), the trench coat is everywhere and a must have in any modern woman's closet. Trench coats are available in a multitude of lengths and colors, but I decided to feature the ever classic khaki. Take a look at the double-breasted trench by Burberry, the originators in trench coats. Can't afford the nearly $1000 price tag? I've found 5 stylin' trench coats under $100 perfect for the spring. Curious? Click the slideshow to see them all!

Reel To Real: Holly Golightly's Underrated But Equally Chic ...

Fashion-wise, everyone loves the Breakfast at Tiffany's iconic pearls, LBD, and opera glove ensemble... right? Everyone, that is, except for those of us who found the getup a bit too demure and were much more interested in the modish, slightly boho styles Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) sports for the rest of the movie: wayfarers, a mink bucket hat paired with a funky orange frock coat, and a one shoulder, floor-length sheath wrap that could have easily been interpreted on a Halston runway. What's always been interesting is that Holly is much more daring, risque, and naughty than the elegant, if not a bit boring outfit she's most remembered for implies (in Truman Capote's book, which the movie is based on, she's actually a call girl, a fact director Blake Edwards hush-hushed for gentler audiences). Check out the slideshow for a look at the Holly probably a very few of us most love, along with some pieces that channel her inimitable, less lauded style!

A Well-Shod Tribute to Salvatore Ferragamo's Fabulous Footwear

To coincide with the recent 80th anniversary of Ferragamo, the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art mounted an ambitious commemorative exhibition. The gorgeous accompanying catalog, SALVATORE FERRAGAMO: Evolving Legend 1928 -2008 (Skira Editore, 2008), features fascinating archival photos, sketches, and drawings, exploring company founder Salvatore Ferragamo's design process - which melded painstaking construction techniques, comfort, and wildly creative design. Most of the Hollywood glitterati of the day were fans, including Marilyn Monroe, Greta Garbo, Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth, Audrey Hepburn, and Marlene Dietrich. The catalogue also includes contributions from the exhibition co-curator and director of Florence's Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, Stefania Ricci, Samuel Kung (chairman and director of MoCA Shanghai), and Wanda Ferragamo, Honorary Chairman of the company and the wife of the late Salvatore. Click over to Fashiontribes to see photos from the catalog, and of course, the shoes. Images copyright Museo Salvatore Ferragamo.

Hot In The Hive: The Tiffany & Co. Jean Schlumberger Enamel ...

Have you ever munched on a danish in front of 727 Fifth Avenue in New York City a la Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's or peeked in the store windows looking for that perfect piece of jewelry? There's a lot of wishing and hoping to be had, but there's nothing quite like the feeling of unwrapping a robin's egg blue box from Tiffany & Co. From their classic sterling silver pieces to stunning diamond engagement rings, Tiffany's has always set the standards for fine jewelry. This red enamel bracelet designed by Jean Schlumberger, (whose client base included Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy, and of course, Audrey Hepburn) is perfect whether you're 20 or 80! I know the price is a little steep- since nearly $30,000 can get you a pretty nice car or a year's worth of rent in New York City- so take a look at another Tiffany classic. A Frank Gehry heart pendant in sterling silver and 18k gold is literally a fraction of the price of the bracelet. So get started on dropping those Valentine's Day gift hints to your beau! Or get it for yourself, because you totally deserve it.

    Price: $27,000
