Zachary Pryor's Unique Jewelry Is Love At First Sight

    image

New York artist Jesse Utt travels to various spaces to showcase a spunky and shameless collection of wall-hanging artwork -- and makes jewelry-making look like child's play. As attractive as his artwork is on canvas, it's his Zachary Pryor accessories line that's so beguiling, we'd never want to take off. His earrings and necklaces resemble a scrapbook collage of trunk collectibles that are a perfect way to add crafty edge to your style. Metal chains, color contrast and charms all lend a hand in shaping the tasteful trinkets that have found their way to the necks and wrists of art-loving A-listers like Mary-Kate Olsen and Avril Lavigne. Jesse, under the trade name Zachary Pryor (a name that covertly pays homage to his grandmother and plays off a name that he could've been donned at birth) has made wearing art -- and making a statement -- easy. While his past works feature canvas-mimicking illustrations, his most recent follow either a more industrial style that is loud and evocative, or a fierce, whimsical style with bright feathers. Catch some of the lust-worthy eye candy in this slideshow and fall in love with the originality of these essentially one-of-a-kind Zachary Pryor accessories!

Exhibit Your Style With Pop Art-Inspired Tees

Back in the '50s Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein were on to something, and T-shirt designers right now on the cusp of 2010 know it. There's nothing like exhibiting our own art museum on the streets with the help of a graphic tee. With contrast imaging and sometimes bright, vibrant colors, these T-shirts can be as eye catching as a print on your bedroom wall. As most T-shirts, they're great for weekend wear and after-work/school comfort, but also boast a "look at me!" mentality that you'd be silly not to flaunt out and about. Commercial stores like Urban Outfitters and Wet Seal have caught on the trend, but going the vintage boutique route could also score you some killer art-piece-like wear. While it may be impossible to get an original pop-art multi-colored Marilyn Monroe lithograph portrait, an eccentric collection of pop-art inspired clothing is a fun and approachable way to tune into your inner art-lover. See the slideshow for some creative, everyday tees!

Lindsay, Shakira, And Mischa Glam It Up At The Whitney Gala

The red carpet was certainly rolled out last Monday night at the annual Whitney Musuem Gala for its parade of high-profile attendees from across the film, fashion, and art industries. While guests like Shakira, Chanel Iman, and Alexa Chung discussed their own artistic talents (or lack thereof) over filet mignon appetizers, drooled over Gerard Butler, and listened to Jennifer Hudson's show-stopping mid-dinner performance, other gala-goers couldn't help but just people-watch. After all, Lindsay Lohan was quite a... vision in that daringly short gold dress. And Taylor Momsen's thigh-high slit complete with fishnet stockings was an interesting sight in the context of such a black-tie affair. Both were reportedly mistaken for the event's host, Donatella Versace -- which can either be perceived as somewhat of a compliment or... not so much. Watch the slideshow for some pictures of the gowns and glitz on the red carpet! Photo Credit: PR Photos

I tweeted the other day about an Apartment Therapy post that highlighted how beautiful shopping bags can look when framed and hung on the wall. Then today, I spied a lovely shot of a framed Vera scarf that also does double-duty when framed and hung as art. Now if you're anything like me, you have more beautiful scarves in your drawers than any one fashionista could ever wear and thinking about them as art just may inspire you to bring them a few of them into the light of day. Or perhaps this idea is just the excuse you need to wrap your manicured hands around just one more silk beauty for your collection. Click the slideshow and you'll find some vintage scarves that can adorn both your jacket and your mantle!

Phoenicia Association Brings Art And Style To Phoenix

There's a new kid on the block in Phoenix! Phoenicia Association, a well-cultivated men's store and gallery space, opened earlier this month. Inside the seemingly abandoned brick building holds some of coolest, hard to find duds in the area. Started by friends Jeff Mann and Kyle Simone (both avid street fashion connoisseurs and patrons of the arts) were looking to cultivate a new way of thinking about and looking at art and design in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The shop is split into two sections: one that sells hard to find men's clothing labels April77, Wrath Arcane, Hixsept, and 3Sixteen, and the other that houses a gallery with monthly rotating artists. If you're in the area, make sure not to miss the opening parties for the new gallery shows that feature local artists, musicians and DJs! Check them out at www.wearephoenicia.com.

Have you been spending too much time sucked into the monotony of your work routine and need a vacation that will simultaneously provide relaxation and an in-your-face dose of artistic expression? If so, I've found the perfect place for you to kick back! Berlin's Arte Luise Kunsthotel is located within view of the Reichstag building and the Spree river, providing you with the prime location for a little culture and history lesson. The hotel itself, which dates back to 1825, is so imaginative in its design it hardly looks real, even after a few dozen blinks to convince yourself you're not hallucinating. Each of the hotel's 50 rooms has been decorated by a different renowned artist, featuring an array of original themes from Comic to Shoe Fetish, and seemingly transports you inside the psyche of the artist -- no matter how whimsical or twisted -- providing a getaway within a getaway just within the walls of your room! Don't let the establishment's old-fashion roots fool you though -- its modern amenities help provide the comforts of home while you enjoy the hotel's artistic decor and the city's rich historical significance. Check the slideshow for a glimpse of the hotel's unique rooms!
