Jean Paul Gaultier Is Next Up For Target!

    image

Jean Paul Gaultier is doing a Target collection, reports The Cut via WWD. The over-the-top designer's collection will be available at more than 250 Target stores across the country and Target.com on March 7 through April 11. Following Alexander McQueen and Anna Sui, Gaultier is the third established designer to do a collection for the mass retailer under the Designer Collaboration series. His chosen muse? The American woman, "celebrating the forces of style both past and present in American pop culture," a Target spokesperson says. I remember being thrilled by Gaultier's risque designs as a young girl (Madonna's cone-bra corset comes to mind). My mother's dislike of his iconic female/male perfume bottles only made me want them more; both still sit prominently displayed in my glass bathroom cabinet. This Frenchman holds a special place in my heart so I look forward to what he'll bring to Target audiences.

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010: Anna Sui

Anna Sui has definitely kept herself busy this season, between her much anticipated Gossip Girl-themed Target collaboration and the stunningly rich circus-themed Spring 2010 collection she debuted just days ago at New York Fashion Week. Preppy separates like cable knit sweaters, pleated skirts, and coordinating jackets were given a playful spin with Peter Pan-collared tops, vividly printed silk shirts, and the most whimsical patchwork jacket imaginable. A steady stream of purple and grey looks gave way to splashes of pink, green, and orange for some eye-brightening variety. Patterns appeared to be haphazardly layered together at first, but with a more careful perusal, the mixing and matching produced an end result that was actually quite seamless- in some cases, it was difficult to see where one piece ended and another began! Purely intriguing, I tell you. My favorite look was the printed shorts and tie-neck blue peeking out from a marching band-inspired vest- and who could forget the sequined mask (worn as a headband- kind of brilliant, right?) on the always adorable Sasha Pivovarova? Seriously, there's nothing I love more than flipping through a well-done magazine. Whether it's showcasing the hottest trends for fall, or seeing all the fabulous editorial photoshoots -- I love them! That's just one of the reasons I love going to the bookstore and picking up a couple home design mags. For around $20, I can imagine all the ways I could change my place - paint this/move that, etc! My favorite is Elle Decor, because they have celebrity homes that are simply unbelievable. For instance, last issue, they showed Anna Sui's abode - amazing prints and all! My favorite hardbound selection can sometimes be hard to find, but the Domino: Book of Decorating is great for determining your style, and solving different space solutions - like renting a tiny studio. Check out my slideshow for lots of great design inspiration publications!

Green may not be the first color you're excited to wear in the summer months, but it is making a huge impression this year. Fashion editors all over are praising bold, kelly green shades as a perfect complement to summer skin, a light and refreshing color that works with many skin tones. Imagine carrying around Tory Burch's 'Nico' north/south tote for a perfect pop of green to any outfit. Or popping on this perfect green jersey dress from Myne Karlin to meet your friends for brunch on a warm Saturday. Check out my slideshow for plenty of cute, summery, GREEN looks, because they're not just for St. Patrick's Dayany more!

Anna Sui To Launch Gossip Girl-Inspired Target Collection ...

Photos of Anna Sui's upcoming Gossip Girl-inspired Target collection have leaked, and so far the looks get an XOXO from me! It's pretty obvious which outfits were inspired by which character, from Blair's lacy, bow-adorned frocks to Jenny's edgier ensembles. Sure, they're a bit costume-y, but anyone who's ever watched an episode of Gossip Girl (or just drooled over the outfits in between episodes) knows that the overly accessorized, often times theatrical looks are all part of the show's appeal-- plus, it wouldn't be Anna Sui collection without her signature girly, rock n' roll flair. Not crazy about Gossip Girl? The collection's eerily reminiscent of Anna Sui's past runway collections, another reason you won't want to pass this up. The collection launches in Target stores and online on September 13th- what do you think? Will you be checking it out? Let us know in comments!

Designer Elite And Their Muses Shine At The CFDA Fashion Awards

    image

The CFDA Fashion Awards is one of the few red carpet occasions where A-listers not only wear their favorite designers' dresses, but actually arrive with their favorite designer linked to their elbow! And while the star-studded event, which took place at New York's Lincoln Center and was hosted by funny gal Tracy Ullman, was certainly dedicated to honoring fashion design's finest, the arrival parade highlighted both designers and their famous fans alike. Alexander Wang, Anna Sui, and sister design duo Rodarte were among the night's top winners, while celebrity-couturier pairings like Heidi Klum with Michael Kors and Claire Danes with Narciso Rodriguez, along with other solo arrivals, made the canopy entrance a stylish star-studded sight to behold. Take a look at the slideshow for some of the night's most notable attendees! Photo Credit: PR Photos
