One of my favorite summer trends this year is the proliferation of eyelet. Found on everything from bedding to dresses, eyelet always reminds me of grandmothers and days gone by. The vintage detail doesn't always have to be old fashioned as many of our favorite stores and designers have made eyelet new again. I especially love eyelet for the hot summer months because the little holes provide instant ventilation! Like any trend, I never like to spend too much so I found plenty for under $50. Pair the bright yellow Sweet Sunday dress with a straw boater hat for a cheerful look. Or pair the Boho Eyelet Skirt from American Eagle with a simple tank and multiple chain necklaces for a boho meets rock 'n roll style. Taylor Swift may be the current reigning Queen of the Grammys, but since I've been in the nostalgic mood, I have to say I miss the old Taylor. Of course, by "old" I mean only a couple years ago, but a small passage of time can do wonders in turning a guitar-strumming Nashville gal into a multi-platinum superstar. Back in her "Our Song" days, she was still the gorgeous yet endearingly humble Cinderella next-door, but had a little more of that hopeless romantic flair that I guess you start to lose after a Jonas brother dumps you over the phone. In one of her first videos ever, she Taylor-izes the classic Audrey Hepburn-style LBD with cowgirl boots and fingerless gloves, creating a look that's both down-to-earth and date-ready at the same time (Valentine's Day, anyone?).
