Video Style Steal: Alicia Keys Is Sad But Sultry In "Doesn't ...

    image

Alicia Keys has quite a lot of success under her belt for a woman at 28 (but then again, what else would you expect from a girl who was accepted into Columbia when she was 16?), with her shelf full of Grammy awards and four chart-topping studio albums. Aside from her musical growth (and ascending movie career), we've also seen quite a progression in her hairdo -- from neat braids to unruly curls and now sleek and straight in her latest video, "Doesn't Mean Anything." But her hair isn't the only thing that's polished and chic. In a sparkly tunic, Alicia is classy as usual, and while she may be mournful and lonely in the video, I know I'd be much more cheerful if I had a hot pair of stiletto boots like hers! Check the slideshow to see some Alicia-inspired looks from her latest hit vid.

Which Front-Row Fashionista Looked The Fiercest At Fashion Week?

Even from just a cursory flip-through of Fashion Week photos, it's easy to tell which stylish starlets just can't stay away from the Bryant Park tents. After all, when every dress, purse, and sequin you've ever worn is documented by the press, it's easy to get addicted to front-row views of your next big-night red carpet ensembles. Certain celebs like Jessica Alba and Alicia Keys took breaks from their busy schedules to pop into designer favorites like Narciso Rodriguez and Giorgio Armani, while other fashion-infatuated gals like Jessica Stroup and Rachel Bilson flocked tirelessly to as many runways as they could handle, from Vivienne Tam to Brian Reyes. And whether you're a celebrity, designer, model, writer, or shopaholic, there's no pressure to look your best like there is at New York Fashion Week! Beyonce, Keri Hilson or Alicia Keys: Which BET Beauty Stole ...

    image
Ida Hsiang on Jul 4, 2009 9:24 AM PDT
The BET Awards were just held at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and it was a bittersweet show this year due to the sudden passing of Michael Jackson. Personally, the most poignant moment was Beyonce performing "Arms Of An Angel" in remembrance, but you also had other knock-out performers like as Jay-Z, gospel duo Mary Mary, Keri Hilson and Monica. Some favorites won: Beyonce for Best Female R&B Artist, Ne-Yo for Best Male R&B, Keri Hilson walked away with 'Best New Artist' and Lil' Wayne is still on top with a 'Best Male Hip-Hop Artist win. Great, but no real surprises there! Aside from the big celeb names, fist-pumping performances and musical memories, stars were also lighting up the red carpet and showing it off pre-show! Many of the men cleaned up nicely, but it was the women that did the real show-stopping and head-turning. Beyonce showed some leg in a marbled Balmain dress, Alicia Keys looked confident and sexy in a sari-inspired tunic, and Keri Hilson made a bold statement in a pop-art, mosaic strapless sheath dress. Which BET bombshell do you think was the most daring songstress on the red carpet?

New York Fashion Week Fills The Shows' Front Rows With Plenty ...

    image

Among the fashion elite who are actually granted access to the highly-exclusive Bryant Park tents are some of Hollywood's most noted celebrities -- after all, what kind of star would you be if you weren't dressed by the best of the best in designer royalty? Some famous fashionistas like Kellie Pickler and Jessica Stroup couldn't stay away from the glamour of the runway and were spotted warming up the front row seats of several designers' shows, including Badgley Mischka, Pamella Roland, and Lela Rose; meanwhile, other more low-key VIPs saved their appearances for just their favorite style mavens, like Mickey Rourke for Domenico Vacca. While New York Fashion Week is ultimately about the clothing, many stylish starlets' presences in the front row are inevitably photographed even more frequently than the designer threads themselves (oh, the price of fame), but most celeb attendees made sure they shared the spotlight and showed their support by arriving in their favorite pieces from the headlining label, like Brittany Snow in her gorgeous beaded Diane von Furstenberg dress. I know being famous must be exhausting, but I really can't think of anything I wouldn't give to switch places with one of those front-row ticket holders just for a day (preferably Herve Leger day, please), even if I had to be Paris Hilton. Check out the slideshow for more pictures of stylish superstars, both in the audience and backstage at some of New York Fashion Week's hottest shows!

Our Favorite AMA Red Carpet Looks From Pink, Rihanna, Taylor ...

Chris Brown and Rihanna walked away with the most awards at last night's American Music Awards ceremony while crowd favorites Beyonce, Coldplay and Alicia Keys performed our favorite tunes. I love listening to music, but for me, watching award ceremonies like the AMAs and the Oscars is all done in the name of fashion. I always tune in to see who rocked the red carpet and who's going to turn up on the worst dressed lists. Country singer Taylor Swift sparkled in a silver sequined one-shoulder dress while Jordin Sparks looked bright and cheery in a yellow strapless frock. Want to see for yourself? Check out my slideshow to see the styles that hit the red carpet at the AMAs!

Forget about the LBD, this summer, it's all about the LPPD's- Loud, Powerhouse Pink Dresses! For evidence regarding the fabulousness of this look, look no further than singing sensation Alicia Keys and the striking strapless pink David Meister frock she wore to the BET Awards. There are lots of bright colors making the rounds this season, but powerhouse pink is by far one of the most universally flattering and easiest to love considering it packs in equal amounts of sweet and sexy. Check out my SLIDESHOW for five powerhouse dresses that pack as much punch as the one worn by Ms. Keys.
