Easy Halloween Costume Ideas From American Apparel!

Love them or hate them, American Apparel is probably one of the best places to get your basics. I wear their t-shirts almost everyday but I generally stay away from their more body-conscious (and body baring!) clothes. However, I've found that Halloween is the best time to let loose and go for something you wouldn't wear on the regular basis. American Apparel has a Halloween costume guide every year that includes old standbys like an aerobics getup, Grecian goddess or cabaret dancer. One idea that really stood out for me was dressing like your grandparents and then I also brought together two costume ideas that are more simple and cost-effective. Go as a figure skater with a short dress and leg warmers or as a Parisian in a striped boatneck shirt, skinny pants, and a beret that's worthy of landing you on our favorite street style websites! Check out my slideshow to see how you can win best Halloween costume by going all American (Apparel).

Show Your Sense Of Humor This Halloween Without Sacrificing ...

Sure, there's no sexier quality than your stellar sense of humor, but some Halloween costumes that are meant to be hysterical are also seriously unattractive. We'll try to ignore that time you went as "junk in the trunk" with a pillow shoved down the back of your pants... and let's face it -- the Mary Katherine Gallagher from "Superstar" ensemble definitely didn't get you any dates. Luckily there are store-bought costumes available that will allow you to be the true renaissance woman that you are: funny, stylish, and sexy, and maybe not so crafty, but no one's perfect. Pay homage to a comedic character like a feisty cop on Reno 911, or give fellow party-goers a dose of 80s nostalgia in a sexy Ghostbusters get-up! You may not end up looking quite as skimpy as everyone else in attendance, but hey -- the goal is to show off your personality! Browse through the slideshow for a collection of ready-to-wear costumes that are both comedic and cute.

Creative Halloween Costumes That Are Already In Your Home!

So you may have left trick-or-treating behind years ago, but the idea of getting dressed up as something completely different and off-the-wall still sounds like a lot of fun. As we get older and reality sets in more, a night to morph into something or someone completely different certainly has its appeal. Or maybe it's the kid in us that still loves to play dress-up with crazy accessories and gratuitous amounts of make-up that would in no way be appropriate for everyday life. Plus, Halloween means parties and get-togethers and it's always fun to see what kind of crazy get-ups others are coming up with. Halloween only comes once a year so we want to make sure our costume is a memorable one. It needs to be unique and original, but we're not trying to break the bank for just one night of ghoul-induced debauchery. Anyone can be a simple cat (or mouse or leopard or whatever other animal ears you want to add to that unitard and heels), or put on a plaid skirt and call yourself a school-girl. Been there and done that way too many times. With a little brain power and do-it-yourself skills, you'd be surprised how many items you already have laying around the house can become a creative costume that people will remember and talk about into the next year. Check out the slideshow for creative costume ideas made from household items that you already have!
