Rock A Hot Pink Frock Like Blake Lively

    image

At this year's CFDA Fashion Awards, the beautiful Blake Lively made a show-stopping splash wearing a hot pink strapless dress by Michael Kors. Given the bright hue of the dress, Blake kept the rest of her ensemble on the subtle side with a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps, and some stunning jewelry pieces from Lorraine Schwartz including blackened gold and diamond hoops, a black jade and diamond ring and a blackened gold diamond mesh ring. Hot pink was without a doubt the shade du jour on the Spring 2009 runways, as seen at Badgley Mischka, Matthew Williamson, Doo. ri, Christian Dior, and many more, and the neon-color trend will be even more potent with the eighties revival on the horizon for Fall. Blake's strapless style is both fashion-forward and classically chic, definitely perfect for summer soirees! Check out my SLIDESHOW for 5 styles similar to the one she sported.

Gossip Girl star Blake Lively made an bold splash at the 2009 CW Upfronts in New York rocking a killer summer-ready ensemble. Blake wasn't afraid to bare some skin and showcased her every curve in a striking blue Adam romper. To make her killer legs looks even longer and leaner, Blake rocker a pair of nude pumps by Christian Louboutin. To let the ensemble do all the talking, Blake kept the accessories to a minimum with nothing more than some colored bangles. The romper itself is definitely a worthy investment and can be worn countless ways- with sandals for day, with a structured blazer and black pumps for a more sophisticated look, with tights for a funky style when the fall comes, and so on. Check out my slideshow to get this killer look!

New York Fashion Week Runway: Adam By Adam Lippes Brings A ...

The Fall/Winter 2009 Adam by Adam Lippes show was simply sensational and brought a burst of fun to this woeful economic season. The collection was inspired by a show the designer attended featuring 19th century hand-tinted Japanese photographs. The images, from cherry blossoms to samurai warriors and geishas, served as the foundation upon which this collection emerged. Vibrant colors, graphic prints, and glitzy sequins abounded on this runway giving each look a fun and funky flair but in a wearable, not crazy and over-the-top sort of way. I absolutely loved the play on proportions and mixing and matching of textures and styles, like the sequined number topped off with sharp blazers that ranged from over-sized and slouchy to cropped and sharply tailored. Cuts and shapes were all over the map -- we saw loose and billowy styles as well as those that were form-fitted and sleek. Some looks were all about the loaded-on layers while others were minimal and fuss-free. Overall, this collection was a hit from start to finish.

Elle's Fall A to Zee Trends: Yarn Knit

From architectural shapes to pointy-toed shoes, Elle Creative Director Joe Zee is clearly a fan of a structured fall wardrobe. As head to toe structure is a bit harsh, he suggests "chunky, loose knits (to) soften the edges of this season's structured shapes." When wearing a loosely knit sweater, keep your proportions balanced by pairing it with a slim pant to avoid looking like something your cat would happily shred. For starters, take a look at this bright yellow cardigan or this sleeveless sweater with a unique chain necklace detail. Head to Elle's A to Zee Trends to see Joe Zee's pick, and take a look at my SLIDESHOW to see the our favorite examples of this trend, straight from the Hive.

Elle's Fall A To Zee Trends: The New Pant

    image

Move over skinny and slim-cut, wide leg trousers are coming through! Rework your wardrobe this fall, because, believe it or not, there's a backlash against those skinny and slim-cut silhouettes that have been walking the runways and streets for the past few years. And it's not just me noticing this resurgence--Elle Creative Director Joe Zee includes this fall fashion must-have in Elle's Fall A To Zee Trends, hailing this style as the 'New Pant.' Stealing the hearts of designers and fashionistas alike, these pairs have full silhouettes and slouchy looks that exude smart style, and if fashion were a religion--which often times it seems to be--you could say that I'm a convert. And If you're feeling especially preppy or playful, choose a pair of pants packed with pleats like these ADAM pleated wide leg pants or these Alexander Wang pleated baggy pants. Now, I know many of you are questioning how flattering can these pants actually be, or how you can wear the slouchy look with out becoming a slouch yourself, but rest assured--with these designer duds straight from the Hive, you'll be the wearing the pants- they won't be wearing you! Go to Elle's A To Zee Trends to see Joe Zee's pick, and take a peek at my favorite trousers from the Hive in my SLIDESHOW!

Move Over Black, White Has Taken Over This Spring!

Whip out the tide sticks, seltzer and salt, or whatever else you use to get stains out, because white is giving its counterpart, black, a run for its money and quickly becoming the shade to crave. Although white was once classified as a spring/summer-time only thing while its counterpart, black, took center-stage as every woman€™s proverbial go-to shade, ever since the €˜No white after labor day€™ law was sent into retirement, white has taken over with all things white - from white shoes, to white bags, to white jeans, and so on - are officially in the year-round staple category.
