Everyone Needs a Pair of Glow-in-the-Dark Pants

    image

I own a lot of jeans. A lot. I have my comfy jeans for class, I have my sexy jeans for going out, I have my fat jeans for the end of the school year when nothing else fits, and I have my weekend jeans with the giant holes in the knees/between my legs where my thighs rub together. What I don't have is a pair that glows in the dark. I know! What's wrong with me? How have I survived college this long without Diesel's latest design that glows bright white under the dim lighting so common in sweaty frat basements? It's amazing I€™m even here to tell the tale. OK, so at first glance glow-in-the-dark pants might seem appropriate for raves and raves only, but upon further inspection these things could really be a great investment. Just think about all the times a pair of glowing legs might come in handy...

Get Edgy With The Diesel Home Collection

    image

Diesel may be best known for their fabulous jeans, but it looks like they expanding their empire into home decor too. In particular, their home textile collection caught my eye. From eye-catching sheets, studded towels (whoa), and not your grandma's sofa covers, they definitely don't like like something you bought from Martha Stewart! The clever tromp l'oeil prints are super realistic and give the illusion that the pillow are tufted, and the sheets appear rumpled. You may have to explain to your parents that you did make your bed when they visit and I'm having a hard time imagining how I'd use a studded towel to dry myself off... but hey, at least it all looks cool! I can imagine die hard Diesel fans, rock stars, and edgy home decorators like Kelly Wearstler gravitating towards this collection. Available in select Diesel stores and other boutiques, check out their collection in my slideshow!

Hot Denim Trend: Distressed Skinny Jeans

    image

It seems like denim trends change about everyday- we had the skinny jean, then the boyfriend jean, and the distressed jean. The newest and latest trend is all of these rolled up into one: the destroyed skinny jean. Balmain and Diesel showed some covetable pairs in their spring runway show, but most of us can't drop over $2,000 dollars for denim. But not to worry, other brands have come up some equally cool versions. Whether they're ripped, patched, or bleached, they are certainly super hot for spring 09. Black and acid splashed pairs are great for day and even night when worn tight and glammed up with some heels. Citizens of Humanity makes an ultra sexy black pair with just a few rips for a more put-together look. Cropped capri style jeans are also getting the distressed treatment. Siwy makes a great bleached out pair and American Eagle's light washed crop are spot on for the warm summer days. Wear them a little slouchier for a more casual look that resembles more of a boyfriend jean or tighter for a sultry retro feel. Just remember- a few little rips is rocker chic, too many rips will make you look like you're heading to a Def Leppard concert in 1984... not chic! Take a look at my slideshow for my favorite ripped skinny jeans!

Seeing Spots: Men Can Wear Polka Dots Too!

    image

In general, men have always been wary of prints and polka dots aren't exactly on the top of every man's wishlist. Personally, I am all for polka dots. They have this child-like wonder to them, but you need to be wary when it comes to donning the dots. There is no gray area when it comes to apparel with polka dots. You have to either be really subdued or go all out. If you go for the former, you need to go big or go home- like the Marc by Marc Jacobs t-shirt. For me, I like to keep my dots very understated via my accessories. A pocket square from JoS A. Bank adds a bit of whimsy to a suit, while a Band of Outsiders skinny tie gives some urban dandyism. But whatever you choose, know when to say when. Don't dress in dots from head to toe- you don't want to look like a giant polka dot vomited all over you. Check out the slideshow for polka dots that won't send you to clown school.

Men's Jackets Go Soft For Spring And Summer

    image

For the most part, men's jackets are very structured. Particularly, blazers and sports coats are broad-shouldered and exemplify the confidence and masculinity of a dapper man. In essence, it€™s a staple wardrobe item €“ but you might want to make it a little more relaxed. Soft jackets are just as tailored as a regular blazer, but more versatile and a lot less fussy. They're pieces that can easily transition from boardroom to barstool. For those dudes who travel a lot, a soft jacket is a no-fuss item that is easy to pack. A.P.C. provides a blazer that leans towards a more formal setting, while Diesel gives us a sporty chic look. Scotch & Soda€™s 3-in-1 blazer jacket gives a unique hybrid that combines a hooded windbreaker and a soft blazer. The shoulders are less severe and the fabrication is lighter and will give you that whole €œI€™m an easy, breezy kind of guy€ vibe. It€™s okay to go for one in black, but since we are on the eve of sunnier days, perhaps you might want to go for something in khaki or even in white €“ because it€™s never too late to show your softer side. Take a look at the slideshow for some of these jackets that effortlessly combine casual and chic.
