Katy Perry Interviews Karl Lagerfeld At Paris Fashion Week

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Oct 14, 2009 12:22 PM PDT
Quirky songstress Katy Perry chats with Karl Lagerfeld after his show at Paris Fashion Week in an exclusive interview for Elle.com. It's certainly a rare chance to peek into the personality of one of the world's most esteemed designers. Is he intimidating? Yes, but there is a certain warmth about his demeanor, even as he corrects Katy when she expresses her adoration for the fabric, not metal embellishment on a particular dress. The two discuss music and fashion, and we learn fun facts like what he listened to as he got dressed this morning and what song he feels describes himself best (by none other than Lily Allen, of course). His response to the requisite "if you could trade places with any designer" question is a careful mix of smug satisfaction and pure respect. Oh, and he makes jokes too! Get Emma Roberts' Casual, Sophisticated Look

At the New York premiere of Inglorious Basterds, the always on-point Emma Roberts kept is casual-chic with a bit of a fashion-forward flair. Emma kept her look youthful with a pair of skinny jeans paired with a heather gray ruffled top. She dressed up the look with a sharp blazer, black patent pumps, and a simple cocktail ring. While some more accessories would have made this look a bit more fashion-forward, keeping it clean and simple created a more sophisticated and polished effect. A look like this one is definitely sharp enough to work for day and sexy enough to work for night. Keep it simple like Emma or kick it up a notch with an edgy pair of pumps and some standout accessories. Check out my slideshow to get the look!

Double-Take Designs Have The Swagger Without The Insane Price Tag

Look fabulous in fast fashion with these mirror-image accessories inspired by a few of the most sought-after trends of this season. Heavy, layered, multi-strand statement necklaces that bring all focus to the neckline are very "in" at the moment and dominated the runway at shows like Lanvin and Burberry Prorsum. Forever 21 captured the essence of the floral fringe necklace with a very inspired look-alike. Not to be outdone by the statement necklace, designers made sure the foundation of every woman's wardrobe, the shoes, also got special attention. At Balenciaga's Resort 2009 collection the shoes were high, super strappy and sexy. Be sure to hit up a Bebe store for a nearly identical pair at a fraction of the price. YSL also gave us something to go-gaga over -- caged booties. Check out Bakers' interpretation and get the runway look for a not-so-runway price! When you're done discount shopping, be sure to check out the Essence blog for more style steals!

Get More Value with a Convertible Handbag!

Handbags are my true weakness. Okay, and shoes, and accessories, okay FASHION. But handbags, I love. To get more mileage out of a bag purchase, I've been looking to buy one of the fall's convertible bags. You know, something that goes from shoulder to tote, or hobo to hip-slung with a quick switch of a strap. I love the color, texture and bohemian simplicity of the Kooba tied convertible hobo bag. And I feel like I could honestly carry this Foley + Corinna convertible small leather tote in red almost every day. It goes from shoulder to tote so flawlessly, and the scale is just adorable. Check out my slideshow for lots of other handbags that work hard for you!

London Boutique Browns Fashion Launches 'Labels For Less' ...

    image
Lisanne Silverman on Jul 29, 2009 12:21 PM PDT
If you online shop (or online window shop) as much as we do here at Stylehive, you've heard of Browns Fashion, the high-end London boutique that brings us eye candy in the form of all of the YSL and Balenciaga we could ever dream of someday owning. Well here's one for the bookmarks: Browns has recently launched Labels For Less, a discount site featuring designer goodies at up to 70% off. Once you get over the cheesy name, it's a great resource to have if you're in the market for hard-to-find labels like Raf Simons or House Of Holland. Are the goods still expensive? Well, yes, we're talking about Lanvin and Margiela here. But it's nice to know that when I finally stumble upon that winning lottery ticket or trust fund I never knew I had, I'll be able to afford way more designer goods than I had previously thought. I knew there was a silver lining somewhere in there!
