WhatsWear Shows You How To Dress the Part: Sexy Sixties Secretary

Old School is back as we see designers drawing more and more influence from the styles of the yesteryear. Shabby Apple's Manhattan line exudes flirtatious appeal with '60s-esque dresses synonymous with the sexy secretary and demure housewife looks we see on retro shows like Mad Men. The dresses are all about form-fitting bodices paired with fuller skirts, allowing them to be worn around the office and on social occasions. A personal recommendation goes to the Madison Avenue dress, which is made up with a black and white houndstooth material and trench coat detailing. Another particularly notable piece is the Fifth Avenue dress. This piece consists of a pencil skirt dress decorated with a high-waisted giraffe print "skirt" and a pleated neck line. In addition to these impressive looks, the prices reflect a company that desires quality craftsmanship without outstanding costs. The dresses start at $72 and always fall under $100. Times are tough and while saving is important, it does not mean that style has to be sacrificed! Wear these styles to the fullest and pair them with bright red lips and pearls exemplifying the retro look!

Sure, retro "gadgets" may look cool in a stylishly old-fashioned sort of way, but when it comes to actually using them, our geeky reliance on modern-day tech has us too cyber-spoiled and impatient to put any effort in something that can't keep up with our 3G speediness. The solution? A techie piece of equipment that just looks vintage, but packs all the convenient specs and capabilities of the most recent releases in the gadget world. The Revo Heritage Table Radio has the 60s-style walnut veneer surface, but boasts some seriously modern features in that retro-looking package: an iPod dock, WiFi for all your favorite internet stations, wireless streaming from your laptop, a remote control for maximum laziness, and even an alarm clock in case you doze off while listening to your tunes. It's the perfect device for the music lover who may have an old soul... but secretly can't live without a healthy dose of modern tech!

    Price: 229,95 GBP

Vintage Fashionistas Keep It Together With Separates

    image

According to my completely unscientific poll, most fashionistas break out the vintage wear for evening. And that makes sense since anyone who follows celebrity fashion usually only gets to see their favorite stars wearing vintage on a red carpet. Who can forget Julia Roberts' stunning vintage Valentino the night she won her Oscar or Penelope Cruz accepting the award for Best Supporting Actress in a 1950s vintage Balmain masterpiece? Yes, vintage evening wear has tended to survive better through the decades than other pieces because formal affairs happen infrequently. But that doesn't mean that there aren't some plain ol' everyday vintage separates to be found. Check out this eclectic collection of tops and bottoms for vintage fashionistas. New York Fashion Week Runway: Phillip Lim Grooves To A ...

Have you ever wanted to go to a music venue where your favorite band is performing, saunter up the the bouncer backstage and say, "I'm with the band?" Wearing Phillip Lim's Fall 2009 collection would certainly help. While the rocker look may be typically suited for the likes of designers such as Balmain and Yigal Azrouel, Lim gives us another view from the more upbeat 60s London rock scene instead. Rocker du jour Lissy Trullie kicked off the show with a performance. Standout looks included sequin trimmed short tunics and dresses and a double breasted peacoat from the likes of Sgt. Pepper that I would wear forever and ever. Did you catch the flashes of red soles on the model's feet? Christian Louboutin continued his successful collaboration with Phillip Lim much to the delight of fashionistas everywhere. Wondering about the unusually hip bowl cut on all the models? Lim says that up and coming model Tao Okamoto was his style muse. Other beauty looks to take inspiration from are false lashes on the bottom lash line for a sleepy mod look. Pair it with shimmery pink and gold eye shadows and nude lips and you're ready to rock, Phillip Lim style. Click the slideshow to see more looks.
