  • Cozy Up In Tweed Clothing And Accessories That Aren't So Traditional

    Nov 24, 2009 10:00 AM PST

There's something about tweed that undeniably conjures up images of wintertime coziness... not to mention old-fashioned office attire and your grandma's go-to outfit for Sunday brunch. The good news is, however, that tweed has been updated to suit the styles of modern trends -- from platform pumps to boyfriend blazers -- and have expanded beyond its traditional use in plain ol' pea coats and conservative skirt suits. • Hive 5: Grunge-Free Plaid Shirts

    Sep 22, 2008 1:55 PM PDT

While the early-90's grunge look of baggy jeans and plaid flannel shirts has never appealed to me, lately I've caught myself doing more than a few double-takes on a similar style while out and about. Plaid shirts - the lumberjack style best associated with mountain men and the grunge-era - are definitely catching my eye. But the shirts that I've spotted lately aren't anything like their grunge-era cousins, this new generation of plaid shirts are hip, chic, yet still effortless. Don't believe me? Well check out some styles now available in the Hive, like this ultra-cute white collared and cuffed plaid button up, it would look anything but shabby tucked under a pair of high-waisted jeans. Or how about this adorable red Steven Alan plaid? I'd wear it open over a pair of black skinnies and accessorize it with thin belts. Even if you're still skeptical about this trend, you've gotta' check out all of the plaid shirt styles now available in the Hive!
