Two-Day Beginners Shoemaking Weekend April 26th/27th 2008 @ 4th Street Studio and Gallery, Berkeley 1717 4th St. Duration: 14 hours Class times: 10am till 6pm Scheduled with a choice of weekend or weekday classes in the UK and weekend classes in the Bay Area, this two day course is aimed at those new to shoemaking, looking to learn the basics. Students cover the fundamental techniques of shoemaking allowing them to complete a hand-lasted pair of ladies mules by the end of a session. Patterns are provided and the emphasis is on the making rather than design but the choice of shoes, either with a two inch heel or a flat are very contemporary and they can be made in your own standard size (British 2 to 9, European 35 to 42, American 5.5 to 11.5) and from a variety of finishes, fabric or leather.
