Thurber's Dog Bookends - Bookends, Book Holders, James Thurber - Levenger
- Price:
- 98.00 USD
Description: He started life as a doodle whose legs had to be shortened to fit on the page, but soon James Thurbers dog took on a life all its own. A sound creature in a crazy world is how Thurber (1894-1961), one of Americas most beloved humorists, described his creation. He loves serenity and heavy dinners, and wishes they would go on forever. Now he also loves your books and will sit faithfully with them, finding contentment as a bookend. Its a fitting place for the canine whose creator was an early staff writer and cartoonist for The New Yorker. The sculpture, which is executed in polyresin, is based on a Thurber drawing and features two of his books on dogs. We worked with Thurbers daughter and granddaughter to get the details just right.
