Favorite tidbits: 18" wide kimono sleeves (which can be turned-up to form 5" cuffs), a peter pan collar and bow, and oversized buttons with metal stud centers. War-time era, vintage 40s short black slip by Seamprufe. Burmill quality rayon - coal-black, soft & slippery, with a matte finish. Metal side zipper, with an interesting patent: a hook end. A wide swathe of double-worked lace just-barely covers the bust. Rayon cuts into the lace sharp and steep. Lace finishes the hem.

From my closet... a straight, loose shirt dress from Evan-Picone. Stippled basket-weave print in brown, taupe & bone silk. Cap sleeves -- high neck -- three buttons close the back neck. Wear the sash as a belt or scarf. Conservative /ethereal. Sheerish.

Intricately-fashioned vintage 40s gabardine dress, from the founding days of Jonathan Logan. Obviously inspired by the New Look and designers Christian Dior & Balenciaga. Dolman bodice has a petal-shaped, double-breasted front yoke, a doubled collar, shoulder-pads, and mid-length sleeves with sharply-pointed, turned-up cuffs. Side metal zipper. The skirt is thickly gathered, to allow for a wide petticoat. The dress's heavy grey fabric is matched to rich-toned, mother-of-pearl shell buttons.
