Description:

Lillian is a stunning and accurate example of bridal wear from the early forties. This lovely dress is stitched in a buttery golden silk charmeuse with an overlay of caramel lace. The silk under-dress is princess-line, five-gore skirt fitted closely at the bodice and waist and is sleeveless with a sweetheart neckline. The overdress adds an air of modesty with a princess-line bodice, wrist-length leg-o-mutton sleeves that fasten with 4 loop and button closures, a high rounded neckline and fastens down the front of the dirndl skirt with 58 self-covered loop and button closures. The overdress made of carmel colored floral embroidered net adds a formal note appropriate for a church wedding. The head piece is made of a heart shaped cap of butter colored lace. A veil of creme colored tulle is attached to entire length of the head piece and is three quarters the length of the gown.

Paulette is five piece gown fit for a fifties princess. The bustier and separate cascading overskirt are made from a sparkling champagne silk dupioni lined with a contrasting pale pink dupioni on the fold over edge of the bodice and lining the entire skirt and modest train. The pink silk is visible in the folds of the skirt as it falls from the waist in soft pleats to the floor. The bouffant underskirt is a fairy tale confection of numerous feather light layers of the palest pink tulle, net and silk organza. Paulette also comes with a seven-foot long shawl of champagne dupioni and lined with pink silk dupioni. This is truly a dress borrowed from a debutantes dreams. The head piece is made of pearl crown framed by a veil of pink tulle that is fingertip length.

Vivienne is a remarkable study in contrasts. The bodice is stitched in a luxurious hunter green silk velvet off set by the airy quality of the ten layers of tulle and nylon net of the skirt. Hand stitched on the outer layer of the skirt is a net ruffle framed by silk velvet spagetti that repeats on the skirt. The cups of the bodice are layered with rayon taffeta, tulle, net and repeat the ruffle and spagetti detail from the skirt that shapes and celebrates the bust line. Vivienne has a halter strap in front that loops through the halter of the back. The bodice sports five layers, as well as boning. Both the bodice and the skirt are fully lined.
