Made of soft, slinky polyester, the dress has a semi-fitted bodice that fastens in front with covered buttons (and snaps below the waist), and full sleeves with covered snaps at the wrists. This chic 1960's sheath dress is made of lusciously soft silk in a vibrantly colored and very unique feather print. The shape of the dress is simple with clean lines that do not compete for attention with the eye-catching fabric. The "flapper" shape with its low waist was all the rage at one point in the 1960's, and the simple lines of this cheery dress are totally 60's-does-20's. Even the removable scarf, draping over the neckline in front and threaded through lucite-buttoned loops at each shoulder to tie and hang low in the back, shows the influence of the 1920's. This NOS "sexy secretary" sleeveless dress from the early 1960's is made of baby blue linen-textured rayon with adorable black piping and a big black grosgrain bow below the collar. Six tiny black buttons decorate the fitted bodice, giving it a double-breasted appearance, although the bodice is actually all one piece. The skirt flares slightly to the hem, almost A-line in shape. The dress closes with a back metal zipper and is unlined. It is in mint condition, unworn, although it has been dry-cleaned. This NOS, 1950's day dress is made of vibrant turquoise cotton trimmed with sweet white piqué on the pretty portrait collar, and a white piqué bow. The bodice is fitted with darts through the bust, waist and high hip areas, where it has a dropped waist seam. Below the dropped waist, the skirt is pleated. This pleated section of the skirt has an under layer of stiff white muslin to give it shape. The original belt fastens at the natural waist. This 1950's cocktail wiggle dress is made of lovely silk, with a "soft focus" floral print in gold, orange, green, grey and off-white. The design of the surplice bodice is fabulous, with a notched neckline, draping diagonally across the bust, and ending at the left side of the piped waist seam, where a giant bow tucks underneath the front layer. The skirt portion of the dress is narrow, with a kick pleat for ease of walking. The lining has very minor yellowing to the fabric at the underarm area, not visible from the outside. This kelly green 1950s wool knit cocktail dress packs an extra glamour punch, with prong-set green and clear rhinestones and tiny metal studs! The dress is dotted with rhinestones from the elegantly draped neckline (which has a weight inside to hold its shape) to the slim skirt, with the highest concentration of sparkle decorating the waist area. The dress is lined a darker green taffeta, and closes with a side metal zipper. At one time, the dress had a pocket next to the zipper, which has been sewn shut. It is in excellent condition, a great 50s wiggle-type dress in a great color. Hot for the holidays!

Crisp and elegant as a pair of white gloves on Grace Kelly, this never worn, textured white "wiggle" dress from the 1950s and its matching swing coat make a lovely set. The original hangtag tells us that the "linen-like" white fabric is a blend of cotton, rayon and acetate. The sleeveless, fitted dress has a square neckline in front and back, cute hip pockets, and dainty pearl beading on the bodice. It is unlined and closes with a back metal zipper. Unlike the narrow silhouette of the dress underneath, the matching coat has a full, swingy shape. The cute, pointed collar is wired inside to keep it standing upright. The short sleeves have equally pointy, diagonal cuffs. The coat is lined in palest pink taffeta.

Did anyone say cocktail party? This lovely black rayon velvet dress from the 1950s is ready to circulate, martini in hand! Black pleated grosgrain ribbon and iridescent sequins add a touch of glitz to the streamlined simplicity of the fitted bodice and narrow skirt. The ribbon and sequins trim the pretty neckline and the single pocket at the hipand how great to have a pocket in your cocktail dressyou never know when you might need one . . . The dress is unlined, closing with a side metal zipper. It is in very good condition, with some minor marks in the pile of the velvet from normal wear, and one slightly larger area of pile flattened, smaller than a dime, on the front of the skirt near the hem (see close-up photo). The dress has been mended under each armhole, where the edge of the underarm split about a half an inch on each side. This will not be noticeable when the dress is worn, and is hardly noticeable at all.

The bodice of the dress is constructed by attaching panels of fabric to the front, shirred halter, which then wrap around on each side to form the back of the bodice, and tie in front like a wide sash. With the panels unwrapped and untied, the dress looks like a circle skirt with a halter front attached. The full skirt zips closed in back with a metal zipper, and is lined with a grey-trimmed, attached net crinoline. The halter ties in back to adjust the length, and the bodice is not boned and is unlined, cinched in and shaped by the wrap at the waist. This early 1970's mini dress is made of medium-weight cotton with a floral print: ivory flowers with purple and blue centers on a dark brown background. This youthful little mini has a matching belt with white plastic rings. The overall shape is a bit boxy, and looks best with the belt fastened loosely over the hips or low at the waist. It has a v-neckline, two patch pockets, and closes in front with round plastic buttons. It is above mid-thigh in length on our mannequin, but will be a bit longer on a more petite lady (see length measurement). The dress is unlined, in excellent condition. A darling cocktail mini from the mid 1960's, this peach shantung and organza dress is youthful, feminine and nicely made! The peach shantung fabric of the bodice has curving seams over the bust area and the skirt is short and flares out in an A-line shape to the hem. The sheer organza bell sleeves have daisy-shaped crochet-looking flowers scattered over them. In back, the dress closes with a row of covered buttons above the empire-waist seam and a zipper below it. The dress has a wide, 3-inch hem, that appears to be original, but could be let down if the length is too "mini". Avocado green is spiced up with lots of bright orange embroidery on this 1960's mini shift dress from Mexico. The fabric is crisp, possibly linen, or a linen and cotton blend. The shape of the dress is somewhat boxy, with slight shaping from darts at the bust and waist area. The short sleeves are cut all in one with the front and back panels of the dress. They have cool cutouts, held closed by 5 strips of fabric at the shoulders and down the upper arms. The dress is definitely mini, stopping well above the knee on our mannequin. The label is from a dressmaker or designer in Puerto Vallarta, so the dress may have been purchased originally as a souvenir from a 60's trip to Mexico. Pink and sparkly--bring your inner "girlie" girl with this 1970's knit cocktail dress by Wenjilli. The lightweight, sheer metallic knit of the dress is a blend of acrylic and polyester, with lots of metallic threads for lots of shine. The slinky knit fabric will glide over your curves, and the zigzag cutouts will show some sexy skin (unless you choose to wear a slip for a more demure look). The cutouts on the bodice are echoed by another double row near the hem of the full sleeves. The waist area is a very open-weave knit, with three drawstrings to tighten or loosen the fit. The skirt is A-line and about knee-length on our mannequin. The dress closes with a back zipper, and it is in excellent condition. This lovely, black silk chiffon 1960's gown by Alfred Bosand is lavishly trimmed with crystal-pleated ruffles. Ruffles cover the deeply scooped neckline, trim the sheer chiffon sleeves, and run down the front of the skirt from the wide waist sash, flowing to each side around a front slit in the skirt, and then around the hem. The fabric of the bodice is gently gathered into the sash, which sits higher on the front of the waist than it does in the back. Both the bodice and skirt have a layer of black crepe under the black silk chiffon, and the bodice is also lined in black silk.
