The fine wool of this raspberry "wiggle" dress from the 1950s is such a vibrant color, and the cut of the dress is so totally va-va-voom, that it reminds me of the character Joan from Mad Men. Add the matching jacket for a demure day at the office, and then take it off for an evening out. The bodice and skirt are both beautifully gathered at the wide waistband with two darts/pleats on each side, top and bottom. The cap sleeves flare out from the shoulder, and the skirt is fitted to the hem, with a small kick pleat. The dress closes with a back metal zipper. The matching cropped jacket is darted in front like the bodice of the dress, and is only a little more boxy, in order to fit over it. It has a front decorative "sash", three-quarter sleeves and closes in back with covered buttons. Bust: 34-36" Waist: 26" Hip: 36-37"

This 1960’s candy pink silk satin cocktail dress has leafy glass beaded designs on its empire bodice, with dangling beaded strands with pearl beads at the ends. The neckline is a wide scoop, and the bust area has high darts, requiring a vintage-style push-up bra for best fit. Below the beaded bodice, the skirt is left plain (all the better for sitting down!). In back, the waist seam is lower, so the beadwork comes down lower as well. The dress closes with a hand-sewn, back metal zipper, and is lined in pink silk. Although a few strands of beads are missing on the back of the dress, they will not significantly detract from this very va-voom cocktail dress when it is worn. It is in very good condition.
