Made of a stiffly textured cotton fabric often referred to as barkcloth, this late 1960's pleated mini dress is styled like a Hawaiian mumu without the length. The amazing print fabric has black and gold dragons on a bright red background, and the reverse, red and gold dragons on a black background. The basic shape of the dress is rectangular, as if a large piece of pleated fabric was folded in half and then stitched up the sides from the hem almost to the top, creating the sleeves, and a hole cut in the center for the head. The neck opening is elasticized, and the original elastic has been replaced. The dress is unlined and in excellent to mint condition; the fabulous fabric is crisp and feels like it has never been worn. Bust: 36" max. Hip: 38" max. The soft floral print on seafoam crystal pleated chiffon evokes a romantic 1930's mood, but this feminine maxi dress is actually from the late 1970s or early 80s. The wide neckline is trimmed with a large ruffle. The sleeveless bodice of the dress has tiny pleats that skim over the body without being too fitted. Below the waist, the pleats open out into a soft drift of chiffon for the full-length skirt. The attached acetate slip underneath the sheer chiffon is cut on the bias, and closes in back with a plastic zipper. The chiffon layer has covered buttons in back. The dress comes with a matching, pleated chiffon choker (with a cute little rosette), which fastens with hooks and eyes. Bust: measures 32" flat, and stretches easily to 36" Waist: up to 30" Hip: up to 37" Length: 52"
