Vivavintageclothing 1980s Jacket

This ultra-feminine version of a classic tuxedo jacket by designer Thierry Mugler probably dates from the late 80’s or very early 90’s. The jacket is made of black worsted wool with accents of black velveteen. As with many of Mugler’s designs, the emphasis here is on the shape of the strong, padded shoulders, narrowing to a fitted, wasp waist. The curving seams of the jacket enhance this hourglass effect. These curved seams are echoed by the curved cutouts on the larger lapel and on each sleeve cuff, where the black velveteen trim swoops over the edges of the black wool. Behind the larger, right-hand lapel are hidden two oval velveteen-covered snaps to fasten the jacket at the waist. The jacket has on-seam pockets in front, and more curved seams in back for a gorgeous silhouette.
