After a bleak Pittsburgh winter, there's nothing I look forward to more than the first few weeks of spring. But honestly, I'm a little indignant about having to wait that long. Thus, the only prescription for my severe seasonal affective disorder is a trip down South - not as far as balmy Florida, but to my home state of Georgia, which hosts a temperate clime suitable for beautiful peach orchards and expansive fields of cotton. How I'll delight in ridding myself of those thick woolen layers. As the snow continues to pile up outside, it's hard to even imagine a world where you can step outside without a hat, mittens, and scarf. However, it's still too soon to strip down to shorts and tank tops, even in the Peach State. That's why I'll be sure to bring along this light, 100% cotton trench from Nick & Mo to fight off a cool, stiff breeze. With its dainty ruffle trim, asymmetrically draped collar, gathered 3/4 length sleeves, and fabric belt, it's a chic, modern update on a classic wardrobe staple. I love the steel grey color and handy pockets, the unexpected off center button up placket, the touches of velvet trim. I'll layer it over whatever the occasion calls for, be it a simple jeans and tee combo, or a strapless frock and pumps. After a season of mind-numbing cold, I can't wait to experience some warm, Southern hospitality. You CAN go home again, especially when you look this sophisticated. -Emily, Fashion Writer
