For 70 years, the Savoy vase, designed by Finnish architect and furniture designer Alvar Aalto, has been one of the most famous pieces of glass in history. In 1936, Aalto anonymously entered his vase design for a competition at the Paris Worlds Fair. Aalto, Finnish for wave created an original glass vase with wavy lines and whimsical freeform design that to many suggests the undulating profile of a Finnish lake. Aaltos Savoy vase continues to win awards, has residency in famous museums, and is recognized and appreciated worldwide. Each Aalto vase is still crafted by its original mouth-blown process by Finlands most skilled glassblowers at iittala. True to Aaltos original intent, the Aalto vase has been created in many sizes, shapes and colors.

Jens-Flemming Sørensen (born 1933) long since took his place in the pantheon of Danish artists, and the 71-year-old self-taught artist is well known both in Denmark and internationally for his sculptures, decorative projects and installations. His works are full of organic shapes, often taking the female body as a point of departure and muse, and they have a dynamism, as if they are constantly changing and a new shape is about to burst forth, creating its own narrative.

The new vase for Rosendahl is an innovative design which contains new thinking within traditional glassware and constitutes a sculptural experience. It is a pure and simple design. The new vases are made of glass blown by mouth. The vases consist of two layers of glass - an internal layer of clear glass, and an external layer of opal white glass. In order to achieve the unique satin white finish the vase is sandblasted.
