Made from Ikat silk and hand-quilted, this piece takes its patterns from 19th Century antique Ikats. Woven in Samarkand, Shiraz and Istanbul, every patterned piece is then individually hand-crafted in London using luxurious silks and tradition couture techniques. Ikat is a style of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft before the threads are woven to create a pattern or design. These textiles reached a high point in production and popularity in nineteenth century Central Asia.
