An Italian with a shoe fetish can be two things: in jail or in fashion. Luckily for women (and men) Sergio Rossi decided to become one of Italy’s leading fashion footwear designers. The representation shown in the gallery is just a sample of the wonderfully imaginative shoes that come from his fertile mind. Rossi worked for his father in Romania, then moved to Milan to collaborate with Gianni Versace and Dolce & Gabanna. Sergio Rossi now has 41 stores internationally.

These shoes are part of a collection of artist-decorated Terry de Havilland wedges. The shoes are collectively called F*ck Me! Shoes . The collection was auctioned off 2 years ago to benefit the Chelsea Arts Club Trust, Trinity Hospice and Artists General Benevolent Institution in England. The shoes were all hand painted and beautifully decorated with a lot of attention to detail and the themes ranged from The Beatles, skulls, sex postures, insects, faces and cigarettes.

We’ve seen some innovative shoe designs, but these are truly wicked. Ladies, you think you have a pair of shoes that kills? Unless you’ve worn some of these, you can’t complain about having a tortured sole. The gallery features vicious high heels by Rodarte, Antonio Berardi, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs. Antonio Berardi‘s snake skin and patent black peep-toes force the feet upward as if they were on a heel, but the sandal fails to have any stem support, leaving the heel suspended in mid air. Marc Jacobs‘ red and seafoam green pumps have a similar effect, the heel looking oddly misplaced. Alexander McQueen‘s black shoes look geisha inspired with their dual heels and minimal support. Rodart‘s golden heels would make more some painful footsie as they’re covered in pointy spikes; gents, may I suggest if your woman is clad in these at dinner, do not make comments on the way she eats or tell her the dress she’s wearing isn’t her most flattering.

I have to say this is my absolute favorite show of late. Shows like this are what fashion designers aspire to achieve, even once in their lifetime. The collection is pure Dior but with a twist. In contrast to the stiff and heavy fabrics which Christian Dior couture has recently been using in their trademark voluminous dresses, Galliano used layers of light chiffon and hand-embroidered sheer lace that provided a “window” to what’s underneath. “It’s a sort of homage to photographers and cameramen,” Galliano said of his choice of monochrome black and white, which helped bring the focus on the structure and details of the pieces.
