First established in 1970, the now iconic Linda Farrow luxury eyewear line was first made famous by stylish Londoners and members of the international jet-set. Farrow was one of the very first designers to treat sunglasses as a fashion statement. Her tireless experimentation resulted in shapes and styles that are still popular today. Farrow was instrumental in developing Yoko Onos trademark styles. 40 years later, Farrows son, Simon Jablon rediscovered the design and introduced the Linda Farrow Vintage frames, which are comprised of three distinct collections, many of which feature precious metal, diamonds and gems. The Vintage Collection consists of 2,000 models, with some styles available limited editions.

Ruffles are the ultimate in femininity, and Maurizio Galantes gorgeous floaty ruffled dresses and jackets are divine. The bright pink, orange and yellow ooze summer sorbet to me; however, this is in fact the designers Fall/Winter collection for 2008/09, titled Objects. The collection was displayed on the runway and later in the windows at the French Ministry of Culture and Communication Jardins du Palais Royale alongside sculptural and lighting creations also by Galante. Photos were by Jean-Louis Coulombel.

Fringe Fashion > Glittery Geometric Fashions Super short, glittery, silver, and black geometric dresses rocked the Paris runway at the Balmain RTW Fall 2009 show. The sequined minis had futuristic details such as triangular shoulders, capped sleeves and peaks placed just at the hipbone. Dresses were sleeveless and full-length; in a few cases, a single arm was covered in sparkly silver material, like a handless opera glove. The collection also included many 1980s inspired pieces such as harem pants, a one-shouldered electric blue micro dress and the disco music soundtrack that set the scene. How gorgeous are these stylish art illustrations by Kareem Iliya? This is high quality fashion illustration, in my opinion. I love the star dress, the mysterious mood and the watercolors used. They are just so beautiful, elegant and feminine. Kareem Iliya is a master of watercolor illustration. The way the colors blend into these illuminations is amazing. I would like to have one of these framed on my wall, please. Source: art-dept Via: laraverena.blogspot

Although the Dancing With The Stars might season finale is tonight, the reality shows influence on fashion will likely continue. Particularly into the holiday season, you can expect sequined clothes to continue to attracts fashionistas as holiday parties call more fancier attire. The type of glittery gowns you might expect to see on Dancing With The Stars could well find themselves on guests at that pre-Christmas charity ball or fancy New Years Eve fete you attend. The gallery shows a few shiny numbers that would not only look smashing on Brooke Burke and Julianne Hough on Dancing With the Stars, but make you the Belle at every holiday ball that every man wants to be caught with under the mistletoe.

Bradley was recently selected as a Hasselblad Master by the prestigious camera company Hasselblad, and was also selected to participate in the Graphis Photo Annual of The Years Best Photography for 2008 and 2009. His photographs are truly unique, combining fine art, fantasy, and fashion into a visual delight. Definitely one to watchcheck out his website, its amazing!

I always love design that bends the principles of traditional everyday objects in a cool and quirky way, like these items of home decor in the gallery above. They are yelling for a cool artsy apartment to take them in. The brilliantly surreal telephone table is made by design company Sunday Land and is a fabulous tribute to the Surrealist movement. The lovely accordion dresser is my favorite though, closely followed by the similarly surreal desk lamp with the bulging light bulb designed by Pike Bergmans.

Famed and much-sought after photographer Steven Meisel shot a wonderful editorial called Girls on Film featuring veteran, but still gorgeous, supermodel Linda Evangelista. The editorial displays Evangelista in all kinds of weird but confident-looking poses. The model was wearing very outlandish and extravagant clothes of mostly neutral colors with just a hint of light pink. The outfits were varied and complex, but in my opinion, the predominant fabric--if there was one--was lace. Evangelista wore a varied collection of outfits which included tight dresses as well as flowing gowns of disparate design. The shoes and headwear were just as extravagant and they included nondescript hats which reminded me of the Mardi Grass or the Rio de Janeiro Carnivals.

It seems that illustrators are going mad for watercolors these days. These lovely, enigmatic black-and-white drawings and watercolor illustrations are made by Swedish fashion illustrator Cassandra Rhodin. I really dig the 1920s style with a good twist of gloom--or perhaps its just the black and white silent movie vibe--that these characters seem to evoke. Anyhow, Miss Rhodin has a great talent here, which I hope to see much more of--perhaps through a commercial career as a fashion/ industrial illustrator? Source: cassandrarhodin Via: cyanatrendland

Jewelry Design Week (the jewelry worlds equivalent of fashion week) was celebrated in London from June 11 to June 15. The event, the first of its kind celebrated in the the British capital, was attended by top designers, artists, celebrities and British royalty who gathered to take in the glamorous collections. High-end, luxury crystal giant Swarovski participated in the event extravaganza with a very diverse collection of crystal-encrusted attires that were quirky, ethereal, fantastic, gothic, mythical and very glittery. Top designers such as Theo Fennell, Stephen Webster, Shaun Leane and a cadre of new talent converged to stage events across London to showcase their latest creations with gold, diamonds, platinum and other precious stones gleaming at every show. This is quite a visual treat.

Photos of Killer Heels - Cruel Designer Shoes Weve seen some innovative shoe designs, but these are truly wicked. Ladies, you think you have a pair of shoes that kills? Unless youve worn some of these, you cant complain about having a tortured sole. The gallery features vicious high heels by Rodarte, Antonio Berardi, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs. Marc Jacobs red and seafoam green pumps have a similar effect, the heel looking oddly misplaced. Alexander McQueens black shoes look geisha inspired with their dual heels and minimal support. Rodarts golden heels would make more some painful footsie as theyre covered in pointy spikes; gents, may I suggest if your woman is clad in these at dinner, do not make comments on the way she eats or tell her the dress shes wearing isnt her most flattering.

The Curse of The Tuxedo - Maria Sharapova's Outfit Instigated Opponent, Led to Defeat (GALLERY) I beat Maria Sharapova because of her outfit, that is the statement which 154th-ranked Russian Alla Kudryavtseva gave after her upset 6-2, 6-4 win over the 3rd seeded Maria Sharapova. Man, it must have hurt! To put things in context, Sharapova hadnt lost so early in a Grand Slam since 2003, when she was 17 years old. The 20 year-old Kudryavtseva candidly spoke of her dislike of Sharapovas fashion sensibility, Its very pleasant to beat Maria. I dont like her outfit. Can I put it this way? It was one of my motivations to beat her. The outfit in question is a daring Tuxedo-inspired tennis outfit with shorts, that has set the sports and fashion blogs abuzz.

Unless youve worn some of these, you cant complain about having a tortured sole. The gallery features vicious high heels by Rodarte, Antonio Berardi, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs. Antonio Berardis snake skin and patent black peep-toes force the feet upward as if they were on a heel, but the sandal fails to have any stem support, leaving the heel suspended in mid air. Marc Jacobs red and seafoam green pumps have a similar effect, the heel looking oddly misplaced.
