Traveling Not

What do you get when you combine a Snuggie with a Snood? Lo and behold, The Napper! Created by designer Simone Wittmann, this hooded shawl is the one of the more ridiculous traveling companions we've ever seen. Fully foldable and compact, this cushioned cocoon is equipped with a Bluetooth headphones, a noise absorbing plastic foil, and padding that acts as a pillow. And—bonus! You can set up your Bluetooth to wake you up when your luggage moves (thief alert!) or when you're nearing your destination. Sadly, this is only a design concept and not for sale, and we're hoping that they're taking that extra time to make it a little more attractive than its current Brookstone-industrial vibe.

PAPIER 135g, 49x25x32cm The different-size traveling bags are made of Tyvek®, a synthetic paper that is extremely light but at the same time extremely robust. The project is noteworthy in many respects, not only on account of the material’s enormous durability, but also because of the high-end finish given to what is actually a banal material. A silk-screen printing technique gives the material a particularly attractive look. A totally different aspect of the series is also remarkable: Classic traveling bags are for the most part made of leather; the use of paper here represents a shift in typology, which reflects a new definition of the traditional idea of luxury. The bags are labelled with a sterling silver flake with an engraved diamond. Tyvek® is 100% recyclable.
