A contemporary of Jasper Morrison, his products have received many prestigious design awards, and some are on permanent display at the MOMA in New York. Originally designed for Ian Schrager's Hudson Hotel in New York City, the exuberant Hudson Collection (2000) combines the contemporary styling of Philippe Starck with Emeco's classic 1944 naval-ready form and construction. Executed entirely of corrosion-resistant aluminum and finished with a highly polished surface that calls attention to the fluidity of the chairs solid backrest, contoured seat and sweeping arms and legs. In addition to its 360-degree swivel, the seat can be adjusted for tilt tension and height. The Hudson Chair is included in the design collection at the MoMA and received the 2000 Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum. All Emeco chairs are tested for strength and intended to last 150 years. The Hudson Swivel Armchair is also available in a brushed finish. Made in U.S.A.

Emeco chairs began in 1944 with a collaboration between Emeco and ALCOA to develop a seaworthy chair for military use. ALCOAs scientists and Navy engineers consulted with Emeco to produce the Navy Chair in Emecos Hanover, PA workshops where all of their chair collections are still made today. Built individually by a handful of craftsmen, 77 painstaking steps at a time. Philippe Starck created and named The Hudson for Ian Schragers Hudson Hotel in New York. The Hudson is included in the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art, and was selected by the Chicago Athenaeum as one of the top 100 designs for 2000, winning the prestigious Good Design Award. Experiments with circles and cylinders led to this modern and yet timeless range of chairs (Icon easy chair 2649/2659 and Icon Lounge chair 2650/2660) and matching products, designed in 2002. The sculptural, organic expression is typical of Nanna Ditzels contemporary furniture design. The light, flexible back adapts comfortably to the sitters body in repose. Icon easy chair can be produced with leather or fabric covers and has a stainless steel frame. The easy chair is also available with a swivel base with automatic return swivel, which is deactivated while the chair is in use. The swivel base comes in chrome, mat chrome or powder coated.
