#6528 - c. 1950's HOWARD GREER, Beverly Hills Navy Silk Chiffon Dress with Bell Sleeves! This dress is SO lovely on ME. Ok, it looks good on the mannequin too, but she looks good in everything... she doesn't have my figure flaws (wide hips, pear shape body). Also... I should say upfront... this is NOT a modern size 10, it's more like a 6, so I just didn't want you gals to get all excited. Who is Howard Greer? You should know if you are a vintage fashionista, but if you are like the new crop of fashionistas.... they need a bit more education.. just ask Sarah Jessica Parker as she was begin honored with a fashion icon tribute. Trying not to display favoritism to any contemporary designer, Ms. Parker wore a tulle dress by Howard Greer. ''But nobody's ever heard of him,'' Ms. Parker said. She turned to Howard Sokol, the chief executive of Barneys New York. ''Have you heard of Howard Greer?'' Mr. Sokol looked stumped. Geesh!! I wish they would actually teach fashion history in fashion school!!!!! Anyway, for all the info on Howard Greer who designed for the movies and movie stars during Hollywood's golden age, see the Vintage Fashion Guild's listing at: http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/content/view/1160/121/ Navy silk chiffon dress with white passementarie trim, double layered bell sleeves (awesome!), low sexy neckline, fitted waist, slightly gathered skirt. Measures: 35" bust, 27.5" waist, up to 37" hips, 28" long skirt with extra 2-3" hem if you want the original length. Back metal zipper. Excellent condition with just tiny pulls at the waist which I assume was from a pin (she knew how to dress!). A sweetheart of a dress. Sarah Jessica Parker would approve!! :)
