Maritime collection Ted Muehling is particularly fascinated by Nymphenburg's masterpieces created during the rococo period. It was a style that rejected symmetry and fixed shapes. Natural-organic movements, delicately curved lines, spiralling and tendrilous ornaments instead dominated the creative work. Inspired by Nymphenburg's creations, Muehling has produced a series of bowls, vases and lanterns entitled MARITIME COLLECTION whose curving lines refer to the shape of sea creatures: corals, shells and snails. The celadon and shell-pink painting and the interplay between the glazed and bisque porcelain emphasise the delicate nature of the objects thus produced.
