Ted Muehling is particularly fascinated by Nymphenburg's masterpieces created during the rococo period. It was a style that rejected symmetry and fixed shapes. Natural-organic movements, delicately curved lines, spiralling and tendrilous ornaments instead dominated the creative work. Inspired by Nymphenburg's creations, Muehling has produced a series of bowls, vases and lanterns entitled MARITIME COLLECTION whose curving lines refer to the shape of sea creatures: corals, shells and snails. The celadon and shell-pink painting and the interplay between the glazed and bisque porcelain emphasise the delicate nature of the objects thus produced.

People always oohh & ahhh over Alyssa Ettinger's Knitware series. Such a clever idea and so very beautiful. Vases are hand-cast porcelain. Small vase has an Aran cable texture and measures "about" 8"h and 2 3/4" around. Tall vase is a flat mod cable knit and measures "about" 10"h and 2 3/4" around. Not dishwasher safe.
The lovely butterflies and roses that grace the large and small vases of this collection are each hand-made by the artist. Freshly-cut flowers might become jealous of the beauty of their new home.
This item is hand-made in the UK. No two pieces are the same and unique differences are part of their charm.
This is a collection of three different playful porcelain vases.
Stuffing latex rubber condoms with hard-boiled eggs makes the shape of the vases. This vase is developed in a project for Droog Design and Rosenthal.
Formed into lifelike sea urchins and tall loofahs, unglazed porcelain transports the textures and shapes of marine life into your home. Thin walls radiate soft light when a votive candle or tea light is inserted in the smaller vase. Multiple groupings of the urchins gently illuminate any room. All make striking vases.
Some people might argue that a vase should be simple so as not to distract from its contents. Thats ridiculous. Dont get us wrong, we love flowers and all, but we also believe a vase should be able to stand on its own. Take this porcelain log with hand-applied mushrooms decorating its trunk. Sure you could fill it with all manner of flora, but its pretty darn stunning on its own, dont you think? Measures 2.5" x 7.75".
