Designer: Jakob Wagner. Year: 2006. "With the shape of the jug I wanted to tell a straightforward story about its functional anatomy: A large hole to fill the jug, a small hole to pour, a low centre of gravity, and a middle area to get a firm grip. At the same time I wanted to create a flowing balance between these four elements in a way that makes them come together in an organic unity, like a heart and its veins or a tree and its branches. The end result almost makes the jug come alive." MATERIAL Hand made fine bone china COLOUR White - unglazed and hand polished outside, glazed inside DIMENSIONS 24,5 cm x13,5 cm CONTAINS 1150 ml

Ova's 21 unglazed white bone china forms are internally lit with a loom of LED lights, infusing the cascade of organic, pebble-like structures with incandescence. A discreet white hemispherical mounting assembly contains the mains transformer and affixes to the ceiling. Each egg is unique, and every installation is slightly different, varying in size and profile according to the space available from 600mm to over 1.5m in height. Very efficient in use, the lights are rated for over 100,000 hours operation. The entire light uses less energy than a 25W tungsten bulb.

In creating my three-dimensional ceramic art sculptures I explore botanical life forms focussing on the variety of colours and surfaces that can be seen in the plant world. I also create and frame two-dimensional ceramic art work, the inspiration for which comes from the sea and shoreline. As a ceramic artist, I sculpt forms in porcelain and finish most forms in a crystalline stoneware glaze. All my ceramic porcelain pottery is handmade in my studio in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

The paper is die cut and bound like a book into groovy shapes based on modern primitive sculptural pieces. Everyone will love touching their soft surface and realizing that they are made of paper.
