Hogg Market was originally a bazaar for eminent British citizens of Kolkata. Later, after independence, it became a one stop "flea market" for Indians. A favorite spot of the designer during her childhood trips to Kolkata, New Market was a child's dreamland filled with dizzying arrays of colors, sounds, sights and smells. The colorful medley of the pillows is reminiscent of New Market!

    100% raw silk, hand embroidered thread or zardozi work, hidden zipper closure, solid fabric backing, feather insert. Available in 4 styles. 4490, the number in Montreal of the first house the designer came as a new bride - homesick and apprehensive but hopeful. Choosing to mark her new territory in a bold way, the designer painted a freeform Alpona mural on the ceiling. With her life turned upside down, translating a technique usually reserved for floors onto the ceiling seemed only logical and more importantly, helped the designer feel at home in an unknown city. While the murals have since been painted over by the new owner, the pattern has found a new home in the luxurious 4490 pillows.

An East India Company indigo plantation, an estate housing the family in exile of Tipu Sultan of Mysore who died fighting the British and finally the playground of the Raj -- Tolly Club has seen many faces. The sounds of merriment of Kolkata's elite at its golf tournaments, its auto shows and games on its manicured acres of green and sand ring loud now on its grounds as it would have then. Do the gentle evening breezes rustling through its impeccably manicured trees and ruffling the exotic birds hold in them a whisper of the teardrops of the natives? Here, the greens and beiges with splashes of blue in the pillows combine the joy and the pathos culled from the Tolly grounds.
