Experiments with circles and cylinders led to this modern and yet timeless range of chairs (Icon easy chair 2649/2659 and Icon Lounge chair 2650/2660) and matching products, designed in 2002. The sculptural, organic expression is typical of Nanna Ditzel’s contemporary furniture design. The light, flexible back adapts comfortably to the sitter’s body in repose. Icon easy chair can be produced with leather or fabric covers and has a stainless steel frame. The easy chair is also available with a swivel base with automatic return swivel, which is deactivated while the chair is in use. The swivel base comes in chrome, mat chrome or powder coated. The sculptural united with the functional. The innovative two-seater bench was Nanna Ditzel and Fredericia Furniture’s first joint project. Ditzel designed the bench in 1989, winning a Japanese design competition almost immediately. The elegant back with its striking geometric decoration is made of 1.5 mm aeroplane plywood – an ultra-thin material that is strong, light and flexible. The veneer used is maple, decorated using a silk screen print. A low/coffee table designed to complement the bench is also available. DESIGNER: Nanna Ditzel
