For Moroso, Ron Arad has trod a strongly materials-oriented path, from polyethylene upholstery to wood. His successful Victoria and Albert collection was followed by the Little Albert and The Big E armchairs in polyethylene. The Three Skin Chair presented this year was produced using wood for the first time. Powerfully sculptural and extremely sinuous, Three Skin Chair is in multilayered lacquered wood.

Description The frame of Ripple Chair is made of white polished and natural injection-moulded thermoplastic to highlight the design in relief that is reminiscent of the traces left by sea waves on sand. The circular aperture of the seat, the lightness and softness of the lines, the sturdiness of the material used and its stackability make Ripple Chair particularly suitable for both domestic and public spaces.

Description A major innovation this year is the inclusion of a line of beds. Starting with the HIGHLANDS collection and maintaining the same genetic code of movement and possible verticality, though introducing a morphological variant, Patricia Urquiola has designed an element for relaxation. The headrest has two positions and acts as a comfortable support. The side members and the footboard are multi-ply wood covered in crushproof polyurethane and polyester fibre. The backs are made of high resilience foam with structure and inclining mechanism made of steel, covered in polyester fibre. The wooden bed base has beechwood curved slats. Feet are screwed to the structure and are in black polypropylene. The bed is completely removable and is delivered knocked down (k.d.)

It is Little Albert, the small armchair designed by Ron Arad and produced using for the first time rotationally moulded mass tinted polyethylene, which led Moroso to venture into the use of new materials and production technologies. Following the enormous success of Little Albert the company decided to further research and develop this type of product which combines design, mass-production and an excellent price/quality ratio. The Big E armchair will be presented at the International Furniture Fair: identical in shape to the Big Easy (Ron Arad´s archetypal armchair) in stainless steel, resin, carbon fibre and to the Soft Big Easy, its upholstered version, the Big E differs in that it is made of plastic. The characteristics of polyethylene make the armchair suitable for the home, public areas or outdoor use. In fact, the plastic used is thermal-shock and sunlight resistant.
