First established in 1970, the now iconic Linda Farrow luxury eyewear line was first made famous by stylish Londoners and members of the international jet-set. Farrow was one of the very first designers to treat sunglasses as a fashion statement. Her tireless experimentation resulted in shapes and styles that are still popular today. Farrow was instrumental in developing Yoko Onos trademark styles. 40 years later, Farrows son, Simon Jablon rediscovered the design and introduced the Linda Farrow Vintage frames, which are comprised of three distinct collections, many of which feature precious metal, diamonds and gems. The Vintage Collection consists of 2,000 models, with some styles available limited editions.

The most obvious omissions are the spokes of the wheels and the familiar bike chain. Its the lack of hubs and much of the traditional frame which give this design its clean look. The propulsion system is a direct gear-chain-drive system. A futuristic design which alas still hasnt improved on bike seat comfort. The industrial designer is Philadelphia based Bradford Waugh.

I always love design that bends the principles of traditional everyday objects in a cool and quirky way, like these items of home decor in the gallery above. They are yelling for a cool artsy apartment to take them in. The brilliantly surreal telephone table is made by design company Sunday Land and is a fabulous tribute to the Surrealist movement. The lovely accordion dresser is my favorite though, closely followed by the similarly surreal desk lamp with the bulging light bulb designed by Pike Bergmans.

How gorgeous are these stylish art illustrations by Kareem Iliya? This is high quality fashion illustration, in my opinion. I love the star dress, the mysterious mood and the watercolors used. They are just so beautiful, elegant and feminine. Kareem Iliya is a master of watercolor illustration. The way the colors blend into these illuminations is amazing. I would like to have one of these framed on my wall, please. Source: art-dept Via: laraverena.blogspot

Cage Dresses - Jean Paul Gaultier A/W 2008-9 (GALLERY) [Edit] Cage Dresses - Jean Paul Gaultier A/W 2008-9 (GALLERY) 619 Views - Click for Gallery Jean Paul Gaultier, known for his flamboyant styles, featured models in cage dresses strutting down the catwalk during the recent Paris Haute Couture Week. As part his Autumn/Winter collection for 2008-09, Gaultier incorporated cages into coats, capes, dresses, skirts and even the feature bride wore a spectacular white and silver cage veil held on with elaborate helmet-like headgear. I have no intention to seriously put women in cages. My models are birds of paradise. They can remove the cages and fly, Gaultier said On a practical note, I wonder what happens when one sits in such a dress.

Although the Dancing With The Stars might season finale is tonight, the reality shows influence on fashion will likely continue. Particularly into the holiday season, you can expect sequined clothes to continue to attracts fashionistas as holiday parties call more fancier attire. The type of glittery gowns you might expect to see on Dancing With The Stars could well find themselves on guests at that pre-Christmas charity ball or fancy New Years Eve fete you attend. The gallery shows a few shiny numbers that would not only look smashing on Brooke Burke and Julianne Hough on Dancing With the Stars, but make you the Belle at every holiday ball that every man wants to be caught with under the mistletoe.

I love these shoes more than pony boots. They are glorious, fairytale-like, massively high, perfectly suited for anime cosplay, totally impractical, and everything a shoe should be in general. I have overlooked the shoes from Natacha Marro for a while as the brand has a rubbish website (sad but true) that did not inspire me to delve into it. However, when the pixie-toe red Mary Jane shoes popped up in a Google image search I dove straight in. As you can see I was rewarded with much gloriousness, and from the press section I have discovered where many awesome magazine cover shoes come from.

Aliens-Inspired Bike - The Speed Racer by Dan Bailey (GALLERY) [Edit] Aliens-Inspired Bike - The Speed Racer by Dan Bailey (GALLERY) The Speed Racer bike concept is the brainchild of Dan Bailey. The bike integrates alien technology into the design of this motorcycle. Actually, Bailey was inspired by the Aliens movie franchise for the Speed Racer aesthetics. Using the specifications of the Kawasaki Ninja as point of departure, Baily sought to create an aerodynamic design that was rugged and tough but also chic and sleek. I dont know whether this bike will ever go into production but Bailey was quite successful in creating a sleek, sweet-looking, futuristic ride worthy of the Batman movies or any other bike-riding superhero you can think of. Famed and much-sought after photographer Steven Meisel shot a wonderful editorial called Girls on Film featuring veteran, but still gorgeous, supermodel Linda Evangelista. The editorial displays Evangelista in all kinds of weird but confident-looking poses. The model was wearing very outlandish and extravagant clothes of mostly neutral colors with just a hint of light pink. The outfits were varied and complex, but in my opinion, the predominant fabric--if there was one--was lace. Evangelista wore a varied collection of outfits which included tight dresses as well as flowing gowns of disparate design. The shoes and headwear were just as extravagant and they included nondescript hats which reminded me of the Mardi Grass or the Rio de Janeiro Carnivals.
