Inspired by the many shapesfound in everyday objects, botanical forma, and architecture, I use simple elements in repetition to build up richly textured patterns and interesting forms. In my work, the negative space between the metals plays just as important a part as the positive space. It lets the pattern brethe. I like the simplistic yet powerful presence created visually with multiples. Kinetic movement is also an important element in my vocabulary. MOvement adds new dimensions to a piece all the time. by constantly changing and making subtle noises, the piece grabs the wearer and invites them to stop and view the piece a bit closer.

Born and raised in Texas, Belle's artistic undertakings began when she developed her first black and white photograph at the age of 14. At 18, she headed out west to attend Pitzer College in Claremont, Ca; she pursued photography and dabbled in other art mediums as well. A summer job at a bead store in Santa Cruz introduced her to the jewelry world. Soon afterwards she found herself selling her creations at the local farmers market in Claremont. After graduation, she found work as a photographers' assistant in Berkeley, Ca. Still inspired by adornment, she began night classes in silversmithing at the The Crucible. Two years and a few art fairs later, she attended the Revere Academy in San Francisco, afterwards taking a job in Sonoma County with Studio 311 as a goldsmith.

The Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art spring exhibit called Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy kicks off on May 7th. The exhibit, spearheaded by the work of young super model, Coco Rocha, is being sponsored by Giorgio Armani. The May issue of US Vogue magazine also features a robotic Gwyneth Paltrow as well as other American-inspired female superhero styles. Featured in Vogue is Catwoman in a molded corset, leg and arm pieces, Swarovski-crystal-studded mask and Christian Louboutin for Rodarte spiked heels. There is also Batmans mortal enemy Poison Ivy in Nina Riccis bustier dress with feather leaves and drops of Swarovski-crystal venom.

The inspiration for her recent work comes from the ordinary: cast off bits of metal, the patina of tarnished copper, and vibrant pieces of antique glass. The unpredictability of enameling ensures that no two pieces are alike.

I work with enamel on silver using the sifting/scraffetto technique. Each enamel tile is a painting in its self. After firing them in the kiln, I put the pieces into an etch bath to give them a pit-fired primitive surface . I think of enamel as a state of mind in glass on metal: the influence of a walk through a wooded area or industrial ruins, a modernist painter, or Sythian artwork. The pieces should last a life time . Remember, the surface is glass not paint, so each bracelet and necklace should be handled with care .
