Fortuny Lamp $5,000 Designer Mariano Fortuny Height adjustable. Reflector swivels for multi-directional lighting. Large scale. Iconic 1907 lighting design by Mariano Fortuny. The Fortuny Lamp (1907) represents the early modernist emphasis on industrial materials, functional style and the spatial role of objects. As compelling as modern sculpture, the lamp dominates space, but also stands up to inspection of every well-engineered detail. This may be the most passionate and powerful piece of lighting ever produced. It is height-adjustable and rotates to direct light as desired. Dramatic in larger spaces: reception areas, restaurants or an open living area. Bulb included: incandescent 500W, E40.

Herman Miller Aeron Chair Designer Don Chadwick Bill Stumpf Multiple adjustment points provide a custom fit. Fully ergonomic task chair. This is a fully licensed classic. Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick, two award-winning industrial designers, created the Aeron Chair (1994), earning themselves a place in what amounts to the designers' hall of fame - the design collection of New York's MoMA. The Aeron is the apotheosis of ergonomic seating, conceived to conform not only to different human shapes and weights but also to movement. The breakthrough Kinemat tilt enables the Aeron to smoothly move with the sitter from a forward tilt to a backward recline. The Pellicle web upholstery is yet another innovation both in concept and comfort. It evenly distributes weight over the seat and back and permits air circulation. As for durability, it will look like new long after you retire. Design doesn't get more civilized.

With the Juliana, Brazilian designer Aristeu Pires has created a lightly scaled and elegant armchair built from solid Brazilian hardwood, harvested from sustainable resources and hand carved in a small factory in Brazil. The tapered back legs resolve into a slanted, crescent-shaped back apron, arced to support the body's natural curves. The chair back, in turn, becomes two gently angled armrests that offer the right degree of slope for a relaxed posture. And the abbreviated design of the arms, which stop short of the seat pad, allows the sitter to pull the chair close to the table for dining comfort. The full-grain, semi-aniline-dyed dark chocolate brown leather seat is subtly proportioned to hold the body in an ergonomically sound position, ensuring hours of sitting pleasure. Made in Brazil.
