I was browsing Unica Homes website a couple of days ago looking for cool stuff (as always) when I found this. BTW, Unica Home is Located in Las Vegas, and they probably have the best collection of amazing home furnishings anywhere. So next time you feel the urge to gamble, make a side trip to Unica Home. Anyway, about the lamp I often love to write a witty little piece about something such as this but Unica Home beat me to the punch, Im affraid:
The work of Piet Hein Eek can best be characterized as recycled furniture in the most visceral sense. In this piece, for instance, scrap wood is gathered from dozens of other furniture projects. A substrate is added for stability of the piece. And then the scraps are essentially glued together and cut to the correct size. This gives every piece a unique patchwork quilt look to them while simultaneously sticking to a modern form with clean lines that frame the scraps. The final products are precisely made and finely crafted, but the piece does have a bit of that Sanford and Son look that would overwhelm a room if that room already had other pieces screaming, Look at me!.
