The Stableys work in the lower level of their home which is devoted to studio space. They have worked full-time as artists since the formation of their business, Creative Clay Works, in 1984. Throughout their many years in business they have sold their works nationwide through galleries and craft shops on a wholesale basis, as well as in invitational gallery shows.

Tim Christensen-Kirby. Artist Statement: I make my pottery because it is the best way I have found to express what I am thinking. I use the images on my pottery as the characters in a waking dream, in which the interactions are metaphors for relationships in the physical world around me. I allow my characters to occupy whichever spaces feel right when I am drawing, and often am surprised by what a pot 'is really about' when I have finished. I draw on functional forms because I want permanence and longevity for my personal history. Just as we know much about our cultural past from the pottery created thousands of years ago, I want my pots to tell those who may discover them in five thousand years what was important to one person living in the twenty first century.

These small trays are designed for food or decor. I use them for resting my tea ball, but it would work fine for square soaps, keys, jewelry, a spoon rest and for Condiments you like to leave on the side (pickles, onions, hot peppers, sour cream etc...) I think you get the picture! The really cool feature with this tray is that the middle is slightly raised which makes it real comfortable to hold. I casted the bottom of a pumpkin to create the mold for this slab built piece. The brush marks are all different, so no two are a like. Great collectable item!

Why the Red Elephant you say? Well, it all started on a spring afternoon in Santa Fe in 2001. After spending the day searching for treasures on the mountain road leading to Taos, we were discussing the day’s adventures over a glass of wine and watching these great elephant sculptures out of the hotel window. They were huge, and their heads were on pivots so that when the wind caught their ears their heads went up and down as if they were running across the fields. And it was windy!
